Hey guys I just want to take a second and thank all the guys that know how to get on and off ski lifts. Working a double today and I'm trying not to murder any of the 1 week warriors.

Saturday's are the worst at my hill. I work the chair closest to the bunny hill so everyone goes there right after they are comfortable skiing the bunny hill. This chair also happens to be the "hardest" to get on and off. the ramp at the bottom is flat and the ramp at the top is the tallest/ steepest at our hill. Saturdays when everyone and their grandma decide to come skiing we usually need to take up 2 stop logs because they get filled up so fast. One saturday we had 8 people go around the bull wheel. 8 DIFFERENT GROUPS OF PEOPLE. We also had a chair of people not put their bar up when told. A girl caught her tips unloading, face planted, and slid down the wrong side of the ramp. Then another kid tried to get on the lift without binding into his snowboard and caused us to have to stop the lift for 5 minutes trying to get his ass out of the loading area. We slowed or stopped the lift over 80 times that day which was fucking ridiculous.

That's rough man, really sucks that we can't lay hands on the customers cause some of them need it for sure

dude go for it. but don't over do it too. i was like I'm don't wanna be a pussy, so in one day i landed my first cork 7, my first rodeo 5 and tore my acl for the first time. so baisically remember that u got human part too and u not invincible.

asian week at the resort I use to work at was brutal. None of them could understand English or french and you can't communicate to them how to load the lift. After a certain point you have to let the chair run the gapers down so they learn to load. Pretty much I only have so much forgiveness before I let the chair take you out a little bit.

are liftys allowed to laugh when people fuck up like that? If not I would be fired instantly

Working for a vail resort it's definitely frowned upon. I had a lady today request that I get the snow off the chair on a fucking powder day while it was dumping....

One time I forgot we had the windows in the shack open and someone fell and I laughed so loud...everyone heard and I looked like a bitch so I dropped to the ground in the hopes of not being seen through the window when the gaper got up

Thank you lifties for sharing your anger for noob boobs with us. A chair stopping every 3 minutes is unreasable. Its like people forgot how to sit.
Seriously, I constantly see beginners struggling on the way to the chair that sends you on the gnarliest runs, struggle to get on 3x then asks to downlift when they realise they are fucked. As you remind them of the HUGE warning signs before you enter the lift line written in BOLD BLACK ON YELLOW AND RED, they enter an all caps rage. We call these people Gorbs.

I want to send out an extra middle finger to parents that let their 6 year olds roam free to wreak havoc in the cafeteria, park and lift lines. Same goes to the guys than dont understand waiting your turn and being grumpy and uncommunicative. And not to forget, the thiefs that put up a major fuss when they have been caught riding without a pass while holding up the lane.

When lifties lose their shit on these people, I stand behind the lifty. Seriously, minimum wage to put up with this is not enough

Have been right at the poverty line even when I was a manager and I would get frostbite every year. I also live on my own and it's really not enough pay. When the rental tech guys make more to be inside and work less something is a little fucked. Left lifts to rental tech and make .50 cents more and work way less.

It also angers me to no end when snowboarders kick their boards out when they sit down and kick me in the shins. Like please keep your board straight till you get to the end of the ramp. I have about 8 little rips in my pants from this and it's like really fucking annoying.

I've seen people ski into the loading area but only go out about 2 feet from the "please wait here" sign. The chair will still be coming around the bullwheel and the inside person usually can sit down but the outside person usually gets clipped by the chair and falls into the deck. I mean there is a reason we have the red signs saying to load at a certain point.

One day we had this group of 4 snowboarder snow bunny retards try to get on the lift. So after 3 chairs go by they finally get their shit together and all of them ride out. They get the red line and when the chair was about 5-7 feet from them they decide to try to switch places! They all fall and I stopped the lift asap but it still ran them over. Like...wtf did they think was going to happen?

Dude this happened three times at my lift cause its a fast fixed grip. People don't understand that I don't have magic powers to stop the lift the second you fuck it up. I always tell people to please get to the red line but you would think I'm speaking in Greek.
