Park boots

Hey guys im a beginner park skier (can 180, 360, slide rails) I currently have my gf's dads old ski boots (will have to look when i get home what they are called i can remember atm,) they are a really nice high quietly race boot that i love for on trail and back country but as a park skier im assuming there not the right way to go as they are really really heavy compered to my all my buddys boots they just got (NORDICA Transfire R1) Im looking to grab something probably 2nd hand and cheap as i only just got out of college and started work so defs super poor lol.

Anything i need to know when looking for boots (weight, flex etc) I really have no idea

Im using nodica double six 2011 skis

park specific boots are just a marketing ploy. If your boots are working for you , as in they don't hurt and are the right size then just keep using those. Boots are the most important part of your gear so I recommend getting a proper footbed even if you don't get new boots.

another vote here for sticking with what you want in a boot. if you like how those boots ride then there is no reason to switch to a "park" boot. I'm sure onenerdykid will come and drop some boot wisdom here, but everything about boots Is dependent on how you ski and what you need. a lot of park skiers ski stiffer boots than what you'd think, and boots that aren't "park".

I would recommend you maybe get fitted though or go to a boot fitter and see if your boots actually do fit you properly.

So long as the boots you have currently fit well I would give another vote for sticking with them. I am going to be doing an article soon on how almost any boot could be slightly converted to be used as a great park boot.

softer boots for in the park. Most known boots for park are like Full tilt boots, Salomon SPK, Some dalbello boots like the Pan Terras

yeah i got some salomon ghost 80's and i like them a lot they were pretty cheap to. but if the ones you have are working theres no need to get a new opne as long as you feel they arent holding you back in your progression cause there to heavy. which they probably wont be since your a new park skier

really any boot will work as long as it fits good and for park your looking at like 70-90 flex, unless your skiing huge like a pro then you'd want stiffer

I ride race boots in park, Lange RS 130's because they fit better than any other boot. I also personally really like stiff boots in park they provide a lot of control and stability on landings. But what stiffness you should get has a lot to do with your ankles range of motion and also as well as a bit of personal preference.

Pick a race or all mountain boot that fits well over a poorly fitting park boot any day.

I ski Dalbello Il Moro's with a 120 flex and I added stiffeners to them. Those extremely soft boots don't give me enough control, but that's my personal preference. It all depends on your weight, height and skiing ability. If what you have works, then stick with it. Don't blow a ton of money on expensive boots just so that you can have a boot that says it's for park. Hope this helps.

I sometimes ski my Lang xt 120 and they are fine. I also have a pair of full tilts but like most of these guys have said, as long as your boot fits right you should progress just fine
