1 week in Hawaii, what to do?

so me and some friends are going to Hawaii, we want to do the kalalau trail, other than that, we're completely open. anyone with experience in Hawaii have some recommendations? We're open to other hikes, kayaking, etc.. whatever really. the more sketchy, adventurous, risky, the better.

Risky? Surf pipe. If you don't get beat up by locals the wave will take care of you. There's plenty of other dangerous reefs to get cut open on if danger is your thing.

Ski and surf in one day!!! Ski on Mauna Kea, I'm pretty sure they do cat tours. Then drive to Kahalu'u Bay to surf.

No we'll be in Maui and Kauai, open to whatever though. We want to try and avoid crowds and people and spend most the time in secluded neat nature.
3 days so far are gonna be hiking. Surfing and fishing are pretty likely. Would like to try some kayaking.

Just don't do what my buddy did.

He's in Hawaii from Jan-May and he had court a couple days ago because he and a friend of his went on a hike and apparently lost the trail - a trail that was closed anyway - and got airlifted out because they were in close proximity to an actively erupting volcano

the lineup at pipe is probably one of the most , if not the most daunting lineup in surfing. at any given day in winter you could have mason ho/ any member of the ho family, JJF, kelly, the other florences, koa rothman, JOB, and a shit ton of other amazing up and comers/ old legends.

If you paddle out to pipe without being able to hold your own your gonna get a mouthful if not more from someone, and they definitley wont let you have a wave. But its in the interest of your safety, that reef can seriously fuck people up.

Defintiely go surfing but stick to the beachbreak op.

Are you going to be only staying on Kauai?

Surfing wise, I don't know how good you guys are but there are several fun breaks down on the south side. Just look around the resorts and restaurants there, Poipu area.
