Skiing wolf creek this weekend

I don't like to talk about snow totals but it's looking like 3-5 feet (and that's NOAA and they're usually pretty conservative). Never been before, what are some of the steepest/best runs on a powder day there?

Wow. Hopefully it's as low density as the snow that was falling in colorado springs today. I'm gonna try and find a scuba shop on the way up to get a snorkel. I'm just hoping the drive out there isn't too bad tomorrow afternoon. Forecast was just upgraded to 10-16 for friday night, but we're mainly driving in low elevation plains so we should be fine until we get to the pass.

Yeah holy shit saw that. It's pretty much a foot of snow forecasted everyday for the next 3-4 days. Wolf Creek is my old stomping grounds. That place gets hammered with snow. They picked up 100 inches from a storm once. It was literally too much pow, if you stepped off anything that was groomed you would get stuck.

Aren't they planning a huge expansion?

which way are you driving in from?

When Wolf Creek Pass picks up a ton of snow they can close the road down to Pagosa but not the other side. You then have to take the back end around....A PAIN IN THE ASS. You eventually end up in Chama and have to drive back to Pagosa. Huge detour, but the only option.

yeah, been peepin wasatchsnowforecast and it looks absolutely nuclear there right now. also read that there might be a massive trek of people from the Denver area heading down there, so don't expect a quiet powday.

I've only been there twice from my one season in CO. They've got some great hike to terrain to the far left of the mountain with plenty of cliffs. It's short but fun. And that staircase that you use to hike to the terrain...climb that snowbank and send it over the stairs. Ski patrol doesn't even care.

We came through south fork. I think between friday night and sunday we got about 36", really deep blower, just took a while to become acquainted with all the flat spots on the mountain. Alberta peak was super deep.

Awesome man good to hear! Did you get into Waterfall area? Yeah the verts not too great there but they are planning a pretty serious expansion. Proposing a tram, and multiple new lifts. Check it out..

I made the trek last weekend from Denver for Wolf Creek and the huge snow fall and it was so worth it. It was sick and i skied mid-thigh pow at some points. it was snowing hard enough we were hitting fresh tracks all day. Alberta lift is sick and have some amazing tree skiing, and the waterfall chutes are amazing too. Hands down my fav place to ski

Best is to hit it mid week. You will literally be the only person on the chair, and lift tickets for $63. Damn this thread is really making me miss The San Juans.

Monarch mountain north of Pagosa and near Salida is a pretty well kept secret too (except I think someone just got raped there??) but they have boot pack terrain to access some bowls that are prime. Not as much snow as WC but more vert. Still a small mountain though that no one knows about.

If we talking waterfall we have to include the cliff. I remember being a kid at 17 and just dreaming of sending that bad boy.
