New idea for quoting people in threads?

Ok, So I will say I have no idea if this is possible or how possible it is. It might be too much fucking around with code and if it is I totally get it.


Anyway, My idea seems simple enough. I was just cruising through some threads and every now and then I will miss a post and read the quote and want to find the original post where it was quoted from to continue reading through the quotes. My idea is this: When someone is quoted that quote box becomes a clickable link that will bring you to where the quote is from. So, when you click it will bring you to the correct page and location on the page of where the original post was.

I hope that makes sense...

actually could be useful. Like when theres a discussion going on about somthing a page or two back, Im always clicking around trying to find out where it started. idk how hard it would be though

yeah, for threads like post what's on your mind.

code shouldn't be that hard.
like if-(quote code) is-true then (get page link)
if(quote on other page) isclicked then (redirect to page)

minor thing, maybe as a side project for a week Or so

would still be easy enough in php / whatever language. sounds like a cool idea, although making the whole quote box being clickable could get annoying. maybe just a link at the bottom of the quote box saying "Go to Original Post" or something

yea this is why it was nice having the timestamp in the quoted text box so it was super easy finding the original post in longer threads. one feature I do miss.

No this one might be able to use the same system that jumps to the post in question for alerts. We just need to get some things finished before getting around to it. Our main developer also just had a baby, so he's off for a few weeks.
