Early taper vs directional taper?

A lot of skis are shifting towards an early taper tip design, while some skis (i.Surface skis) are keeping a directional taper with a lot of rocker. Has anyone really noticed a huge difference in there skiing with an early taper design vs directional?

I know a thing or two about skiing and gear, but what the fuck is early taper and directional taper? Are you referring to just taper? Because taper reduces swing weight along with makes it less catchy in deep snow.

If by directional taper you mean no taper then it's a more traditional ski design used for bigger jumps and it's easier to design a ski with no taper

Ya, early taper being contact points are moved further in, which is usually the widest point as well (opus/jj). And, directional being a traditional shape with the widest/contact points further out at tip/tail of skis (surface new life). Sorry about my wording.

Yeah they both ski differently for sure. I've moticed with taper there's a certain mount point or else it can ski funny. I like a traditional ski weather is has rocker or not.

I love the way my crjs ride and they have "early taper". I just wish they weren't as soft and had more rocker.
