Non Symmetrical Skis?

Hey guys, my current skis are getting pretty trashed, so I'm going to be in the market for new skis next season. I'm looking into the on3p filthy rich, and j skis whippit. The whippit is the cheaper of the two so I'm leaning towards that one, but here is the question. Will the whippits non symmetrical shape make any difference for landing and riding switch?

It won't make a huge difference unless you mount them super far back. Unless you ski park most of the day it won't be a big deal.

Aight so I build skis. The purpose for skis being non-symmetrical is for stability. Symmetrical will be better for just about everything you can do in the park, but the whipit will do just fine. Since they don't have a ton of difference between the tip and tail, riding switch should be just as easy as with the on3ps. I would honestly get the J's if I were you. Nothing against on3p, it's just that J has the best reputation and best customer service. Jason's a super nice guy and everybody should support him. But yeah, it doesn't really matter that the whipits aren't symmetrical because they're pretty damn close.

K2 Shredditors and recoils aren't symmetrical and I absolutely love nuking down the hill switch on them.

I went from symmetrical (K2 Domain) to non symmetrical (Moment Vice). There is a difference for sure in the way they ski switch, anyone saying there isnt a difference hasnt swapped between the two, but it isnt a bad difference, or really a big difference. You will just notice it when youre carving switch, just landing switch or riding out switch without turning wont really feel any different at all

you'll be fine. ive always thought symmetrical skis were over kill unless you are a very dedicated park rat and are literally switch half of the time you are skiing. otherwise i think the cons outweigh the pros. non symmetrical skis go switch FINE

i have symmetrical skis and when i got them everybody told me they sucked for all mountain but honestly i dont feel a difference. In the park they are great but for all mountain it feels no different and everybody made such a big deal /rant. Probably not the best place to put this

I have Ar7s mounted 1.5cm back, which are non symmetrical and they carve tighter switch than they do regular. I want to try a symmetrical ski and see if they still carve nice when center mounted.

totally agree here. ive swapped back an forth also. you can tell when making turns switch and like he said carving. but, its not that huge of a deal

Asymmetrical skis are better switch IMO. Symmetrical skis I have found are a bit unpredictable and slower edge to edge. Halfpipe skis are generally asymmetrical for a reason. They carve better with more control and they feel better landing switch IMO.

With symmetrical skis, unless they are fairly skinny like the punx, or are well designed like the walls, my personal experience tells me that symmetrical skis are more of a gimmick than anything. They simply don't care as well as asymmetrical skis switch.

this is very interesting, and I have thought about this myself, since the way you carve switch is very different from the way you carve skiing forwards.
