New Clothing line.

Hey guys, so my buddy and I are starting a clothing business, and I'm just here to do a little bit of advertising. Frowned upon, yes, but we need it. We're calling it "STRICT," and our whole objective is to get you the same type of clothing that you get from most other companies, but for a much lower price. We're the type of guys that love to ride and ski in style, but we have like 30 dollars to spend at any given time. At the moment, we just do hoodies and shirts. We'd love you guys' support, and once we have a little bit of a bigger budget, we'll be sponsoring a lot more skiers and riders, so stay tuned. Here's a link to our Etsy page (we don't have the budget for a website yet). Again, we'd greatly appreciate your support and input.

a) NEED a real website
b) not trying to be a dick, but you really need to put more thought / effort into the logo / design
c) try to at least establish a few items before you start advertising. the more well established you seem, the more people will want the support you and will be open to your "brand"

overall, can't say I'd be stoked to rock either of those pieces, but keep going with it and work on your designs and try and get creative with your products

Yeah we're going to, but to start we just took a General poll of what most people want, and that was L or XL. So as soon as we have a little bit bigger budget we'll go up to 4XL. If someone wanted to buy one bigger than XL at this point, I'm sure we could make that happen, as they could contact me through instagram or etsy.

Don't use a logo or put your name on pieces. You're a new startup company and your brand name doesn't mean shit. Yet. Focus on good, unique designs, materials, and fit, and once you develop a reputation is when you can actually market your name. Right now your brand has nothing differentiating it from countless other startup brands, and you need to do something to make a unique, competitive good.

You do realize that this "brand" consists solely of 5 minutes in Photoshop making a logo, then 15 minutes on Etsy to get the logo uploaded, right? There is no actual time/effort put into materials, fit, etc. It's just his shitty logo that can be printed on shitty-quality generic tees and hoodies, with profit-sharing for Etsy. If he can find anyone dumb enough to want to wear his 5 minute Photoshop logo on a shitty tee or hoodie, both he and Etsy will make some money. There is no "company" here. There is no innovation. It's just another of the hundreds of shitty attempts at making some easy money.

I plan on taking your advice. It's just that to have a product that's different from others, you need the appropriate funding. This whole Etsy thing is so that we can make enough money to pay for the stuff we'd like to make. This is all we have the budget for at the moment.

I see some conflicting "I" and "we" usage here. Please define your parameters. Is this the colloquial "we"? Admit it, you're one kid with no vision, no experience, no assets, no education in the fashion and design world, and are going nowhere. The number of pointless "startup clothing companies" posted here on a weekly basis is really getting ridiculous.

Also, we print our products by hand. It's not like we just went on zazzle and paid them to screenprint on hoodies and shirts. We put tons of deliberation into choosing our materials, and logo design. After months of this, we finally decided on what hoodies, what shirts, and what logo we'd start with. We make our own screens, we coat, expose, and do everything ourselves.

Actually, no. I am doing this, as I said, with a buddy. And I'll give you the experience part, this is indeed the first time we've attempted to start a clothing company, but we've done our research. As I said, months of it. We've been searching for the best ways to do what things, and the best materials for the price range we have in mind.

Oh, sorry I didn't even see that. I really like NWT3K, and the fact that it's custom and can be changed by the customer, but I also like saga's stuff and how they sort of have something for everyone, that you can do what you want. I also really like volcom. They have some cool shit that I like, but it's just way too expensive.

honestly what you have doesn't really constitute a logo, it's just the name written across the chest. A logo is something you can fit on all of your pieces and is easily identifiable.

you said you liked saga and nwt3k, take a look at their logos. they're similar in that it's essentially just the company name, but they're bold and stand out and you could fit them on a tag inside the piece or big on the chest. you literally have just lines writing out the name of your brand, it's almost hard to read.

try and incorporate the two diamonds / line though text thing in to a more stand-out logo, something recognizable

these are just my two cents really, obviously up to you guys. I'm just fucking bored today really. i too designed a sample logo just to see what my take on it would have been, and I think you could make a good looking logo with the parts you have

where does the name come from? what does it have to do with your brand? do you design the clothes as well or just put logos on a stock hoodie or tee? why should i buy your stock printed hoodie over the millions of other startup clothing brands' stock printed hoodies?

your stuff is cheaper than saga, but its not saga. its not even remotely a competitor for them. until you're making products that are of the same quality, both in terms of materials, actual design, and graphics, you can't say you're selling the same product for a cheaper price. also it just sounds like you're trying to rip off and undercut the brands you say you love so much.

i'm not trying to shit on your ideas but you need to put a lot more work into this. for your months of planning, all you have to show is a hastily drawn design screen printed onto a t shirt. it means nothing, its just a word in fancy lettering. absolutely nothing sets you apart from any other bedroom clothing "brand", apart from the fact you've made the retarded decision of using etsy when you could just as easily sell through tumblr, facebook, or many other means without losing profits.

look beyond the ski industry and research actual fashion. the thing you'll notice over and over and over is that all the successful brands have really strong design as well as branding. none of them are just words on a t shirt.
