How much do you tip a car detailer?

Im getting my car interior detailed and was wondering how much to tip. I was thinking a $20 would do the trick, but, I don't want to lowball the person doing it. Anyone work for a detailer and know average and good tip rates? I always tip on the high end, so, let me know what a good, but not over the top tip would be.

Try tipping him in the rear end, rather than the high end. Start with just the tip, and go from there.

So you tip a waiter/waitress 15-20% based on how well they do. And your car was like, what, $15-20k?

15% of $20,000 is $3,000

20% of $20,000 is $4,000.

You said you like to tip on the high end, so a little north of $4k should do the trick

The idea of tipping is so dumb, or at least the idea of it being the norm. You're literally paying them for doing their job, even if a waitress does a shitty job I feel obligated to tip.

How much is the detail? Is it getting done at a shop or is it an independant, self employed detailer?

It motivates them to do a good job. In Australia minimum wages are much higher and so the food costs more, plus there's no motivation for the waiters to do a good job.

Trust me, tipping and low wages is better than high wages and not topping, service wise
