??? ON3P Jeffrey 114 cured my shinbang??????

so my fellow ns'ers...

pow day in the morning, then a park day in the afternoon/rest of the day. normally after this kind of day my shins are killing me. broke my goggles too btw haha

but..

ON3P came to demo today....

rode the Jeffrey 114 almost all day...

skid hard all day...

and boom....NO MORE SHINBANG

but seriously almost everyday i ski i get shinbang, especially on a pow days where your leaning back a bit (yes i do have pow specific skis). on3ps skis were so fun, super popppy, pretty damp. i often boosted to flats, normally i would land back seat causing shinbang, but the jeffery didnt hurt me in these situations at all... it just felt so good and felt so good to stomp on. cliffs, boosting to flats, casing stuff, none of it hurt my shins with these skis.

now back to the title... how the heck did these skis cure my shinbang????????? literally im so baffled right now, and am wondering if anyone has had similar experiences? or nah, cus the Jeffereys are magical? ive been struggling with shinbang for 2 years now and is this finally my answer? #getjeffreys hahaha

one final note. i did the same riding as i always do, just on the jeffrey... i still cant think of why i would not get the normal shinbang i always do. anyone have any real input?

Demo fleet arrives on the East Coast later this week. Demos from PA to Maine are going to be happening for the rest of the season (which at this rate will be June, haha).

Jefferys are magical. They really do it all. Typically they ski best when you're driving them forward, therefore no matter what conditions you can ski them with your weight forward, taking away the backseat skiing that causes shinbang. They're all so stable that you don't need to worry about backseat landings, just land centered and ride out. I've been missing mine this season (left them in Utah cause generally that's where the snow is, haha), but I'll be on a new pair soon enough!

I dont really think it was the skis haha. did you do anything different before hand or take some time off? skis are very unlikely to cure your existing shin bang, especially when you already had pow specific skis.

I probably won't be going to Canada on the East Coast this year, maybe next year. Pretty sure the West Coast demos have all been scheduled (http://www.on3pskis.com/demodays/) and I don't think there's any in Canada this year. Demo days are still relatively new for ON3P, so they're not fully expansive yet, but hopefully in the near future we're everywhere.

Probably because they were mounted -4 and are legit pow skis so you didn't have to lean back. What other pow skis do you have and where are they mounted. Also i hope you are afterbanging or something in your icon or that's just straight up the cause of your shinbang.

Also, I used to get shin bang on some of my softer skis (4frnt CRJ, Bluehouse District, 4frnt STL) because I would have to lean back in chunder in order to not go over the front. I still get shin bang now but it's cause my new boots suck. I think the Jeffrey is a little more substantial of a ski then a lot of mainstream "powder" skis so you can ride it without having to force the tips off the snow.

We expect to be in the Burlington area around 3/4-3/7. Hoping to do a public Friday and Saturday. Right now looking like it will either be Jay Peak, Sugarbush, or Magic that friday.

We are scheduled for Loon on 3/8.

Also looks like we will be at Blue Mountain in PA on 2/27. Other demos planned for 2/28, 3/1, 3/2, but those aren't set in stone yet.

so weird to hear this as im normally riding the crjs on a pow day. theyre mounted at recommended which is -6

Probably. Not that I'm an ON3P guy but we only had one pair cause the guy said they shipped the rest out east.

Mine were mounted similarly. To be fair I only had my CRJs for like 15 days at the beginning of the '12 season before I ditched them, so maybe my body was not properly conditioned to endure skiboots yet. I seem to remember going at high speeds due to their radius, but not really being very supported by the ski at those speeds which puts me in the backseat more than usual.

I think we are bringing 5-6 pairs. I think we split them up - 3 detuned and 3 with normal, undetuned edges (a lot of shop buyers want to see how they ski with edges, so we separate ones you can and can't hit rails on). We pulled all the FR from our west coast fleet because honestly they are one of our least demoed ski at demo days.

Shit I didn't realize you are a East Coast rep when you responded. You said demo days from PA to Maine, are there any plans to demo at Sugarloaf or Sunday River this year?

yes roach, im afterbanging after a small 3 off a cat. but im constantly keeping as forward as possible when i ski but and it seems to help. the jeffrey straight got rid of it all together. now im walking around this week with no shin pain. thanks on3p

I'm also on the " its not the skis" bandwagon. I'm guessing you have booster straps, the proper fitting booy,and solid technique since you seem to not know what else is wrong.

I'm with you on that I lean back and people are being unreasonable. Everyone leans back no matter who you are. Could it just be strain on the muscles from skiing itself? Maybe you uncounciously lift your toes when you ski and it might cause muscle fatigue, then pressure on the muscle from the ski boot causes pain? Idk really these are guesses but if I've learned anything about injuries from always having them myself, more muscle prevents injury, no matter what kind.

yea im totally with you. i feel like bwalmer nailed it. the jeffreys just supported me so much better all over the mountain than my current noodles. therefore, there is no need to lean back anymore. ive actually been doing weighted toe raises, constant stretching, tons of foam rolling, and tons of calf raises with 2 plates on each side of the bar. and yes i have proper fitting boots (thanks to inkline) footbeds, boosters, the whole nine yards.

i personally feel its just the support factor of the skis. my crjs are soft and are easy to get bucked around. ive been riding this ski for a while now and have always gotten shinbang. switched over to the jeffrey, did the EXACT same style of riding ( i even rode harder than normally) and had the shinbang reduced my 85-90%. i think that stiffness and support of the Jeffreys for the small drops and natural jibs i was doing made a world of difference. +1 on the ON3P scoreboard

I don't have issues skiing powder. All of my skis are mounted so that I don't have to lean back.
