Sir Francis Bacons and other advice, Need Help

How do the Bacons hold on hard pack of even icy conditions? Also any other suggestions for a similar ski potentially slightly narrower. I need some guidance.

I ski 60% pow and 40% moguls and groomers

I am 5'11 160ish and would probably want something around 175-180ish

I have always skied on narrower all mountain (still tried to ski in the deep pow) and race skis so this will be my first wider ski. (I'm only 16)

Additional Info:

I ski 95% out west (CO, WY, UT)
I am a type 3 skier and am trying to progress into some more challenging terrain (Bigger rocks/cliffs) and potentially some sidecountry

I DO NOT ski any park so that is not a concern

If you don't ski any park, I wouldn't get the bacons. They are a pretty soft ski, which is awesome for jibbing, but for charging and hucking in JH, I look elsewhere.

You sound like you are looking for something along the lines of a blizzard peacemaker.

could not agree more, ive skied the sfb's and really didnt like them to be honest, not my type of ski

Also thinking about the Rocker2 100 or 108 how does that compare? Anyone have experience with them?

Although I agree with your reasoning, I wouldn't rule out the bacon for OP just because he doesn't ski park. Depending on his style of skiing, the bacon might be right up his alley. It's one of the most fun all mountain/pow skis out there IMO and excels in just about everything but icy chop and steep lines.

Does the bacon not do well on steeps? I ski a good amount in narrow chutes that tend to be pretty steep and tight

I currently ski my bacons almost daily and they are really a ton of fun. However when they have broken in they become pretty soft and super buttery. Do you have a racing background? If you do you may feel like you are over powering them relatively easily. Overall A very Very fun and playful ski but if you like to push your skis really hard and not butter/dick around you may want to look for something a bit stiffer in the tips and tails like maybe an ON3P Jeffery.

Liberty Helixes are a pretty legit ski for what you're describing. They're a nice all around ski that rides pow well and can hold it's own on groomers. If you don't mind something more directional and like to haul ass, the Variant (either the 97 or 113) is a beast. The 113 carves WAY better than a ski that wide ever should and it slays in powder and crud.

Part of my issue is that I have a racing background and therefor like having something that is a little stiff and holds an edge well on hardback. However, in the pow I like something soft and playful.
