gordie.I'll write out some brief notes, all just my opinion but overall looks pretty good man
- shorten your logo, 10-12 seconds before the first shot is too long- even including it over the first lapse would be better. it's a good shot for the logo intro though, maybe just shorten it
- font is a little papyrus-y. I'd switch it for something cleaner, more subtle.
- ditch the rock lapse, not enough action
- clouds over the landscape is too desaturated and try pulling the frame with a person in it
- the lapses before 1:10 are all ok, but the good ones start around a minute and a half in. maybe cut some before, you want anyone watching to get something worthwhile right off the bat to keep them interested
- the out of focus rock with stars in the b/g and the star trails over the mountain with a lights trailing up are probably the best two, really cool and great that you played with focus
- sky/rock faces at 1:38 isn't that great, I'd cut it
overall- pretty cool stuff, some great timelapses but I'd consider cutting about 30-45 seconds to tighten in on your best shots. try to shuffle around and bring some of your better daytime lapses closer to the front (it seems you're going with mainly day lapses to mainly night throughout). Avoid too many flashes with the cuts, it's a bit much at times. try just hard cuts instead. bump the saturation a bit more overall and lower the blacks on the daytime lapses.
cool reel though, looks great!
Thanks for all of the feedback!
I agree, the logo should have been shorter/faster.
Font is something I definitely struggle with. Any tips? I just usually use the set fonts on premiere and try to mess around with those but I never really get anything that I'm really stoked on.
Part of the goal with the timelapses before the song really drops was to build starting with some simpler shots and then drop the bangers in when the song drops but I think you're right- a little shorter would be better.
The out of focus rock and the star trails are definitely up there with my favorites too. To be honest, the out of focus rock was an accident , but I'm really excited on how it came out and focus is now something I've started to think about way more while shooting.
I appreciate the feedback everyone!
