I thought the article was fairly straight forward, Quiksilver put in a bid to buy Rossignol. Whether or not this bid will be sufficient, we will see. A company does not make a bid to buy another company if they do not believe it is in their best interests and they have a good chance of winning with their bid. This is due to the high costs associated with preparing a bid.
As for Salomon/Adidas owning quiksilver, that's wrong. Quiksilver is not owned by any parent brand, they are a seperate publically traded company. Quiksilver bought Mervin(Lib Tech & Bent Metal) in 1997.
Apparently,
K2 is also speculated as a possible buyer for Rossignol. I'd much rather see the company go to Quiksilver for the best interests of skiing. It would be nice to see Rossignol and Dynastar (a brand of Rossignol) skis sold in Quiksilver shops.
Apparently, analysts think the company may fetch as many as 244 million euros, thats $323million USD. Quiksilver paid $87million USD when they bought DCshoes last year.
