So I recently filmed this edit of a competition one of my buddies hosted for his small clothing company at my local mountain. I'm just looking for a few more experienced perspectives on the overall quality of the video.
Here's the things I don't really like just as a baseline:
Intro - I picked a song with a pretty long intro. This resulted in me using a number of redundant filler shorts that I would've preferred to leave out, unfortunately I needed to fill the time so I was forced to use a lot of what I'd consider to be B roll footage.
Middle Portion - The song I used (while i think it developed a great mood, feel free to comment) had a minute or so break in the speed towards the middle. I'm definitely no expert at editing video and especially audio. You'll notice I cut the song and tried to use an exponential gain audio transition to skip over the slow section, but honestly I wasn't happy with this at all and tried to cut the clips to make do.
Ending - I couldn't figure out a real great way to close out the video and transition into the closing portion with the logo (I was given a .png of the logo to use) and I personally don't feel it fit together very well.
Other comments: I had a few shots that were out of focus, one shot i accidentally knocked my shutter speed up to 200/s when the rest of the edit was filmed at 125/s, this created some purple banding in the shot which I was pissed about. One or two shots I barely set up an angle, but thought I could use some editing to make them a bit more watchable, unfortunately I'd say they didn't come out awesome.
Here's the Vimeo version for easier scrubbing, it's also in my videos on NS: https://vimeo.com/119605447
Lemme know what you guys think I did poorly and what could be improved on, tips for how to improve would be appreciated as well. I'll actively respond to comments and give out karma to helpful responses.
