What is your honest opinion on this? I think it's a load of BS. Little kids are annoying and I don't want to deal with them... Am I going to be damned to hell for this? I don't know much about the pope, but he sounds pretty fucked.

I am afraid of all the laws that come with being a parent nowadays. I'm five years out from a kid and by then idk if i'll want to have one. There is talk about holding parents responsible for how their kids turn out. In Puerto Rico there is a bill currently being debated that would charge parents criminally if their kid becomes obese.

The catholic chuch is extremely pro-life and believes that giving life is the greatest gift of all. I'm not surprised by this one bit. I personally think he shouldn't be saying this because of how much influence he has over some people.

They want more followers, it's easier to continue a religion if your followers are all about having kids and raising them in the religion.

Selfish for not wanting to bring another kid in the world? That's just stupid. Could change it to say adopting a kid and then I could agree.


There are lots of kids out there that have no home, you're not that cool, good looking, athletic, that your genes need to be passed down. If the bloodline dies with you the world will keep on turning.

"As for you, be fruitful and multiply; Populate the earth abundantly and multiply in it." is just a tad bit out dated.

My opinion is that the world has too many people already, we don't need more people. We should figure out how to deal with all the people we have now before we start having more.

My sister was born when I was 10, my brother when I was 12. Now I'm 17 and have helped raise and watched my siblings grow up since infancy. Let me tell you, they are frustrating, needy, and at times extremely annoying, even though they are also pretty fucking awesome most of the time.

I had always assumed I'd grow up and raise a family because that's just what people do, but after seeing how hard and draining (emotionally, physically and financially) it is to raise young kids, I'm perfectly fine not having kids.

Im actually torn on this. Feeding your kids garbage and essentially making them fat i consider to be child abuse. Is it malicious? Nope, not at all. Is it neglectful? You bet your sweet ass it is.

At what level of severity does neglect become abuse?

Raising a kid is one of the hardest things that anyone will ever do, let alone doing it with the government staring over your shoulder, making sure you're doing a goo job. I mean you don't get fined for having 8 kids and being unemployed and depending on the government to feed them. But fuck, "that parent feed her kid to much fine her."

Yes, I will say being a good parent is one of the hardest things to do, and I will stand by that. I was a fatty growing up, thank you. I was heavy-set from 4th grade to 9th grade and I payed for it in hell and it had nothing to do with how my parents raised me.

Yeah I was fat a middle school as well not amy more what's your point? There's a difference between being fat, and being obese I was not obese. The site to me seems pretty split. For social topics it tends to lean left (which it should) and when it comes to major topics like gun rights and obamacare this site leans toward the rightwing point of view (which it should, we need our guns). I hate classifying topics based on left or rightwing just because I want people to think for themselves and it is ok to not follow one side or the other on every topic.

same exact for me. The majority of the area I live is republican as fuck! Our generation is mixed, but the older people get around here they all lean right. I am also in the republican party, that stems from my premilitary and military days. I was going to switch and vote libertarian but I am going to stick around until Rand Paul runs for primary.

I agree. It is hard to say. There is so much info out there on how to eat right and help build a strong healthy kid, instead they feed their kids dog shit fast food. How do people expect kids not to be fat and dumb when they're eating the nastiest food possible? But, I do not believe we should force parents to have their kids eat better. They can do what they want and i'll just shake my head while they feed their kid cheap, shitty food to ensure they save enough money for an 84" TV and the cable bill.

Fuck the pope. I want a couple kids one day but honestly have no intentions of ever getting married. Marriage is for suckers. 50% divorce rate in America and the male generally loses 50%+ of all assets + quality of life payments + child support, house, etc. Im not getting into that. My parents went through that, bunch of people I know went through that. Not worth it unless you get a full blown prenup.

Still protected to a degree. I guess I have a biased view though...my parents went through a nasty divorce. My dad became an alchaholic and lost his job because of it. Ended up going broke and passed away. I understand that maybe I saw an extreme end of the spectrum...but as a male who makes a lot of money...50% divorce rate just screams disaster for me. At least with a prenup your moderately protected to a degree. Nothing a good lawyer can't fix.

Just in this day and age you really need to protect yourself ..things im in the process of doing to do that one day.

- process of buying my own house
- full bank account / 401k/ investment accounts under only my name
- own vehicles
- my and my gf in no way shape or form split any major assets.

For whatever reason i marry her just protects me. I would never let my wife become a stay at home mom until deep into marriage.

My mom, who is a saint, may have a heart attack when I have to explain to her that if I have any kids in the future they will not be baptized. That is years down the road though. First I need to get thru the hurdle of explaining to her that when (or if) I get married it won't be by a priest or in the church for that matter...

When I got married on a golf course by a dear friend I'm pretty sure my grandparents spent the whole ceremony in silent prayer. I watched it happen.
