Thoughts on avid?

my school has a really good deal with avid media composer ($260). i haven't heard much about people using it here so i wanted to hear your thoughts and maybe see some examples of edits or movies produced with the software. my other program is cyberlink power director 11 ultimate suite.

lol dude avid is a super complicated non-linear editing system that a lot of hollywood buffs use. if you're looking to make ski edits, spend $260 on some weed and a new camera lens and torrent adobe premiere.

ok, i think i am going to get it because i would rather use my computer than the slow school ones. i will probabily keep my old program for edits and such, but who knows i may like avid in the end

Avid is so shitty. The only reason to learn how to use it is if you want to get a top-tier Hollywood editing job, try some editing, hate your life, pick up heroin, blow old men for more heroin, then die naked at your computer waiting for avid to finish rendering.

Its really personal preference. A lot of riders like the feel and lever pull of the Avids. They offer a high degree of braking power and are usually pretty reliable and consistent. However, they squeal. Constantly. It is for that reason that I usually recommend Hayes or Shimano over Avid.

Paying $260 for a program isnt a deal and half, more like an eight of a deal or even a tenth of a deal

Life lesson, never buy anything just because it is a good deal, especially if that something is a computer program that you can't re-sell for profit.

You mean turkey warbling? I don't mind my elixer 9s but there nothing compared to Shimano. Best in the game.

gobble gobble gobble! my buddy wont switch from avid 7s because his fancy stumpy came with them. I rock hayes and they feel and work exactly the same. OP, download adobe premiere. Its great, simple, powerful, etc. It is also free off the pirate bay. Google utorrent, google pirate bay, search for adobe premiere. Enough said

i appreciate everyone's honesty, but i did get avid for school purposes, and if i liked it enough i was going to switch. my personal computer is better than the school stations, plus there are more people in my class than there are stations. i still use power director 11 for my ski and fishing videos.

adobe is quickly becoming the industry standard, so eventually i will acquire that program.
