I'm trying to get into the camping game this summer. Anyone have any advice/tips? Any gear I need to pick up? Also, any great spots. Any information would be helpful.

Camping is the sickest! Couple things come to mind. Get a sleeping pad. Sleeping directly on the ground will make you super cold. Another is to set up your tent where it's sheltered from wind. A flappy tent all night is noisy. Seriously, it's damn hard to get a good nights sleep when its windy (or you are freezing). Also make sure you have a bunch of ways to start a fire like matches, lighters, ect.

The essentials really vary depending on if you are doing car camping or sending a multi day back packing trip. I love both but you have to pack differently for both ya know?

You should do acid. Me and some buddies did it and it was crazy af. And make sure to remember where you dug the poop trench, cuz at night you will regret it, especially on acid.

OP, are you planning on backpacking, camping at a site, on state land with a site, or hucking it?? We need more info. Do you have areas in mind? Are there facilities? Is it forest? Are you backpacking for a week at a time?

Get something very flammable to help start a fire. A ton of ice to keep your food cold. A metal grate to cook your food on.

Best advice I can give you is spend the money on a high quality sleeping bag. Don't get a $10 Walmart one.

Also if you're camping during the summer when it's hot out, put a tarp or a canopy over the tent. It's amazing how much cooler it keeps the tent.
