Owned a pair 2011/12 then a warranty pair 2012/13 Punx and they got mangled three week into using each. So I moved onto the k2 domain and durability was much better. Looking to see what the new redesigned punx is like. Anyone have any experience? For example how did the edges hold up, top sheet, base etc. Just asking for your experience , thanks! +K for solid replies
I got my Punx pretty much a year ago. I used them for the end of last season and all this season so far. I have skied at least 25-30 park days on them and I love them. The extra bit of flex in the tip and tail make them really fun for buttering and the little bit of rocker is a really nice feature as well. Being more stiff underfoot makes them feel really solid for take offs and landings. I have just recently got my first little edge crack under foot, but the edge is staying in place and not pulling out. Its really just a hairline crack. When I got them I gave them a slight de-tune underfoot to avoid catching on rails and stuff. I'm pretty sure doing that will help extend the life of your edges as well. All in all, the edges are durable and hold up really well. My bases, besides having the usual slide marks from rails and boxes are in just fine shape too. The top sheet will take wear and tear like any ski but I have yet to damage mine to a point where they need repair. As far as being a great ski for big jumps and also being really maneuverable on rails and jibs, they are the best skis I've ever been on. That being said, I only hear good things about companies like J skis and On3p, along with many others out there putting out good skis. Hope this helps your decision.
if you like how K2's ski, then just stick with them. Atomic edges are just not durable. Great jump ski, fast and quick on rails, but not durable on rails. seen way too many pairs lose crazy edge underfoot.
