bhainesI'm going to UW-Stevens Point next year and I was wondering how the skiing is up there at Granite Peak. Do you have enough time to ski a good amount throughout the season? and is there any form of transportation from Stevens Point to Rib Mountain?
Nice, I'm at UWSP too! I'll be a senior next though, so I won't be around much longer.
Like some of the other guys said, schedule your classes (without fucking them up too much, school first) so you can ski a lot. IF you plan to get a pass to GP, get it before September ends and the ski/snowboard club usually does a discount deal if you join.
There is no transportation besides yourself or snagging rides with other people unfortunately, but it is a good way to make friends!
That being said, unless it gets better next year Granite will be sick for a month then you will get sick of it. They hardly change up their setup, "once it's in it's in" tends to be their mindset which sucks. They will add features as the year goes on but they wont change much else. Does it suck? Yes. Are the parks really good? Yea but they tend to get boring once you go a lot.
I got a Trollhaugen pass this year for $99 and it is definitely worth the drive, I would argue that they have a better park & park crew than GP by a long shot. They do complete resets every couple weeks, they have a tow rope so laps for days, & the vibe is always great. That being said, if you can't swing that GP is a good alternative.
