TNF Park and Pipe Open Virtual contest

Tom Wallisch here with Nick Martini. This Friday the 13th at 5pm EST we're going to be logged on for an open discussion about The North Face PPOS virtual event and really anything else on your mind! Ask questions here in the forum about the event, prizes, who is going to win, what you like, what you don't like, or what you really wanna see. Or just ask Nick questions about living the beach life in LA.

how do you think the park where the run happens will come into play? i know the contest says it shouldnt matter. i agree you should try to ignore it and focus more on difficulty of tricks, style, creativity. etc... but a if you did a three hit run from a small hill in new england, compared to a run at keystone/breck/whislter/etc from the same skier, clearly the longer run and bigger features from the big mountains would be more impressive. what are your thoughts?

What do you think about the allegations that virtual realities harm todays youth? How do you plan to combat these allegations in order to make this competition successful?

This contest is going to be rad. If you don't know about it all ready, you can go film as long as you want and edit together your "dream" slope run. Wally and I have been talking about this idea for awhile and I think it will be sick to see what people put down. Tons of $$ prizes as well as a chance to come film with us for Good Company this spring, gunna be tight!

Martini, will you ever have another full segment? What is the future in terms of skiing content for Stept? Does Jon Brogan exist, or is he just a myth that Jay-z and the illuminati came up with when they bought the ski industry in 2006???

Tom, what are your thoughts on skiing powder? Has the knee injury affected the way you ski, or are you still going just as hard, if not harder? Can you teach me how to afterbang?

Hi- We hope in the future to be able to include European resorts, but this year we had some limitations due the competition's liability policy.

You are allowed to edit your run as much as you'd like. This is your "dream run" - you can take as many clips as you would like and edit them together to make the most ridiculous run you can think of.

The format is made so that it shouldn't make a big difference. All you need is one good jump and one good rail and you can build you run from there. The judging won't take jump size into account

I think it's amazing because it will gives kids from smaller mountains that can't afford to travel a chance to compete and compare their skills with others all over the country

This event is something I've always wished I would have had as a kid growing up in PA

I have been filming with Good Company this year and I will also be doing a trip with Sherpas Cinema, tryin to ski more this year than I have the past few. Hopefully I can compile everything into a full part for the fall.

Stept is working on a bunch of projects this winter. We just released a video with ABM and Oakley and have more edits dropping soon. This spring and next fall we will be releasing some longer projects, stay tuned!

Brogan does not actually exsist.

Still a good question. Obviously a bigger better park will give you more options and different features but the beauty of the event is that even with one rail and one jump at your local hill you can still compile a "Dream Run" as if you were competing in a large Slopestyle event.
A lot of it will come down to creativity and get technical on what you have

This is going to be the most accessible Slops and pipe events for kids around the country. Its also great because it is for all skill levels. There will be prizes for up and comers along with cash and film opportunities for the more experienced kids. This will become a "super unknown" type event for the contest and film kids alike.

Totally. When I was in high school I couldn't travel to CO to compete at something like the US open. If I could have steered an event like this and done well it would have been huge.
I feel like it is just a sweet way to work toward a set of tricks and then see how you compare to others all over

It's really open to anyone. Obviously I don't think all the big name pros will enter but anyone that competes and wants to win $$$ and come film with us should enter.

It is an open event just like US Open back in the day. Maybe someone like Joss will enter and it's sweet to see how you stack up to him.

Everyone should enter. It's free and there's nothing to lose

Man.... think about that... you weren't able to go to the US OPen. That is actually kind of a pretty interesting meta comment right there. What would the skiing world have been like if you'd been able to go?

Lol... I've been obsessed with the idea of having open online contests for years for just this reason. Kind of funny to hear something so close to home like that.

What year would that have been (ish?)

Get on and register and film a video. No matter who you are or how good of a skier you are its a fun contest and great way to way prizes and just put a sick run together.
