Late spring in Europe

Usually I head out to Cali and get some late season shredding at Tahoe and Mammoth after these idiots end our season in mid April here in Colorado, but things are looking kinda rough on the west coast. Uh, yeah I know about Loveland and Abasin, before you smart asses chime in, but I'm looking for some more exotic location with a good park, I'm thinking Europe. Where is the best late season (mid-April to early May) park scene on the continent?

If your looking for park skiing later on in the season in europe i'd look at places like Les Deux Alpes, They move their park at some point from the standard slope to higher on the glacier though so i'd check when they do first but i plan on heading out there as late june/july so snow is not a problem usually but its obviously dependant on conditions, the park their is extraordinary for summer skiing and I'm assuming its just as good if not better during the regular season, maybe also check out Mayerhofen? Not sure how late their season goes but their park is legendary, considered by some to be one of the best places for terrain parks in europe!

mayrhofen closes mid april, however the hintertuc just up the road is open 365 days a year. to my knowledge there aren't that many places that will stay open into may, maybe I'm wrong though.

Over the past few seasons Vars looks to have had a solid late season park, that being said I have no idea how late their season runs to.
Folgefonna (sp) up in Norway looks like a decent park from what I've seen from a few edits also. Their site says they open 1st May, so that might be something else to check out. http://www.folgefonn.no/en/openinghours

on the Kaunertaler glacier is a great park. It is everytime in a really good condition and you can met there really friendly ppl.

personally idk this funpark, but a good friend was really surprised in a positive way

Laax and Mayrhofen are maybe not the best choice especially in the late saison, because of the bad snow situtation in april-may.

After some investigation, it looks like Tignes stays open until May 6 th. What's the scene like there, especially park setup.

Tignes is pretty decent, but it only runs half days in the summer, so like 6am - lunch when they shut the glacier.

Saas Fee is also pretty skiable all year round, but it can get busy. Having said that they did have a 2 meter pow dump in July the other year. http://www.saas-fee.ch/en/Home

You might want to consider Scandinavia for late April/May.

I can also agree for the les 2 alpes summer park, that shit is insane!

Also, you should check out DC park in Meribel. 3 halfpipes should be all I really have to say. How late in the season are you looking to go? A few parks close a bit earlier, and by may-July only the glacier parks are still open, I think.

Check out Stubai. It's not switzerland, so way cheaper. And the setup is usually huge. Pro line opens to the public at April 13th. Should stay open until some point well beyond may 15th.

I don't really think that it's worth to travel from north america to europe for spring skiing. But anyways the glaciers in austria should have parks open (stubai, hintertux etc.).

I miss being off spring skiing at the university events, 2012 was a banging year in Saalbach even though the snow was slush, t shirt skiing, cheap beer and two weeks of non sport party. I had to have a week off work when I got home to recover some of my humanity.

Anybody ski Val Thorens? They are open until May 10 and the park looks pretty cool. What's the better fly in? Geneva or Lyon?

I've been to VT a few times. It's high so snow is usually good until May. The park there is also very good and if you get a 3v pass you can hit up the DC park in Mottaret which is only a 20min ski.

Either Airport is fine. You could also goto Grenoble or Chamberry. Tends to be more flights going to Geneva. VT is a 3h coach transfer.

Trigger has been pulled. Flying into Lyon on on April 14th, think I'll rent a car and head over to 3valles for a week then maybe over to Tignes/Val d'isere. Any tips, things not to miss? Def want to hit up that DC park in Meribel. might hire a guide for a day to show me around, place looks pretty intimating to try and navigate. Getting psyched!!!

Dachstein Glacier in austria is very nice. Last year the park including the Pro line was opened till 20th of July , whilst Hintertux(only place in austria you can ski year arround) only had kickers with 8 m table. Also the railline up there is perfect and you get tons of laps. http://www.superparks.at/setup-dachstein/
