Dislocated Patella

Hey NS.

So, couple days ago, I was playing indoor soccer and I managed to dislocated my patella (kneecap). Has anybody else had this injury? How long am I really out for? One guy said my ski season is done but is that really tru?

ive done this twice, both times I was able to ski again on a brace within 2 weeks. Only catch, Its gonna happen again at some point.

Ive done it twice. One time it went back into place right away, the other time it didnt. When it didnt my kneecap was sliding diagonal instead if up and down. Was a little over a month of pt i believe for first one and 2ish for the worse one. Dont know how long your season goes but i guess it could be done. Thats a question you should have asked you doctor when you were there

I've never had this issue... However, I had extra fluid in my knees and I could move my knee cap around like Mr. Deeds.

definitely can put you out for a couple of months. Crutches and brace required for a while

UPDATE: Met with the orthopedist today. He thinks 3-5 months depending if surgery is necessary or not. Luckily he is a guy who specializes in athletics so he is taking the best possible route do reduce risk of relocating in future. He said less than 5% chance if no surgery and less than 10% chance with surgery. So hopefully I will end up missing this season but won't have to deal with it again in the future.
