Im kinda new to filming and got a opteka steadyvid stabilizer this year for skiing. I balanced it all out and everything but still find it kinda tricky to get a nice clean balanced shot when filming a jump line and going over knuckles. do you guys have any tips to help or is it just something that takes practice to master?
Final Cut Pro, go torrent it from the pirate bay (it is free) and use the stabilize feature, it is wonderful. Truly amazing. Other than that, holding the handle closer to your body will minimize big shakes, but the little shakes will be more prevalent, and if you hold it farther away from your body, the little shakes wont be as bad, but going over knuckles you may have slightly larger shakes.
The key is to figure out what works for you, if you are having trouble holding it one way, try a different way, youtube has good tutorials on flying different sized cameras and you may find something that works for you..!
