4 weeks in Salt lake City, what should I do?

Sounds like you'll be happy at the bird. It's quite large and has plenty of off piste, and piste. There park is very tiny though. If you're looking for cheaper day passes elsewhere you may have some luck looking on KSL for day passes you might be able to find a good deal!

I would also wait maybe on buying a season pass, I might be wrong, but I could've sworn I saw a billboard today on my way up that said snowbird spring passes start march 1st, which would likely be a way better deal than the 700+ you'll likely have to pay if you buy a pass now. Eat at Hectors or Lonestar after skiing

Sounds like a killer plan, cant go wrong with the YU passes, they hook you up.

Snowbird has so much shit to ski, its unreal. plenty of cliffs, steeps, chutes, pretty much everything for a skier to huck themselves off of. Alta is wicked fun, too. Tons of great little natural features to get sendy on all over the place. LCC is a really unique place to ski, and houses some of the best shredding in all of the lower 48 IMO.


also, hate to be a negative nancy somewhat, but if the faucet really isnt turned on by the time you're out here, just expect really shitty coverage and spring-like snow. its been that way for the past month out here with no change in sight, so just be warned. its not ideally "the greatest snow on earth" right now, but im sure its better than a lot of stuff you're used too.

Food recommendations are very welcomed, I watched the Man V food episode for SLC wasn't very inspiring though. I want to try out all the places I see on TV that we don't have here, also any cool local places.

What are YU passes?

Snow doesn't seem to be as good as previous years, still looks good though, but I was in Serre Chevalier, France and the snow was terrible (still fun), then it dumped one night pretty much out of nowhere and it was amazing.

I have only every skied in France and once in Italy, unless you count dry slopes and indoor snow domes. I've heard its pretty different skiing in America though. What are the biggest difference between American and European skiing?

Oh theyre just Young adult passes, I got mine for real cheap in october, but they're unrolling their spring passes in the coming weeks as it was mentioned above.

I havent been overseas to ski either, but I know for a fact that in the states, they have a very big emphasis on staying in-bounds and not ducking any closed area ropes, or not going thru any gates unless you have the proper knowledge and gear. Thats one of the bigger things i gather from resorts out here. And not being a total jackass on the hill, skiing in control, etc.

I think Salt Lake county has a few ordinances regarding rope ducking and staying in bounds, and i know they dont fuck around with that shit.

also wing coop up in Olympus cove is great, as well. fucking killer specials, and they give you discounts if youre just coming back from shredding.

Ok so if you want to go fast, there's a time and a place.

If somewhere is shut off, it really is shut off. In France, ski where you want really, this year in Serre Chevalier saw a good looking run from the lift, was closed off when we got to the top, ducked the rope. Met an instructor taking a ski school down part of it. He could not have cared less we were there, we weren't in his class so he didn't give a shit what we were doing.
