Hello NS,
I don't normally post on here, but the past few days have made me rethink things a bit.
On Wednesday, I finally ripped the edges out of my beloved nordicas. I thought I was done for the season but then I remembered I still had enough money saved up for a new pair of skis. I ended up buying the 2015 A-bangs from my local shop in a 166cm. Super stoked on em despite the bad buzz surrounding the Afterbangs, I had em mounted up and even hot waxed cause what the heck that factory wax isn't gonna do shit anyways.
I picked em up Friday afternoon and they felt awesome. Took em out to my local hill and skied the best 2 hours of my life, they're amazing skis with a ton of pop, and they lock on to rails perfectly.
then shit hit the fan. I started to notice a weird sound when I picked up speed, high-pitched like the friction caused when you put your fingers on a moving treadmill or rub waterproof outerwear fabric together. Then they began to stick. regardless of the extremely fast icy conditions, when I dropped into the park, I heard the noise (nnneeeeeaaaaarroowwwwww) and I slowed almost to a stop. I even tried to hit a flat bar a couple more times which was a terrible idea because the bases stuck to it like glue. It seemed like the more I skied, the worse it got.
Disappointed, I left and researched my problem, and after base inspection a found dry/sticky spots in various locations/pressure points, mainly under the boot. Determined to fix this predicament, I woke up early Saturday morning and spent 3 hours hot-scraping/waxing them 4 times. It seemed like I had it down, but when I took them out that day my 4 coats of wax lasted a couple runs until the sticky was back, fiercer than before. I tried to drop a tranny off the side of a knuckle and as I skied down the side they gripped the snow so hard that it sent me flying forward, ejected, onto my face. The bases even had what I thought was base burn, but felt more like a thin film. I'm so clueless I have no idea what is going on. Today, I researched for hours and found absolutely nothing, I messaged and called line but this isn't a business day for them. I took them to my shop and they recommended I wax them again. AM I CRAZY? is it possible that they're defective? Maybe someone at line forgot to structure the bases on mine, leading them to not hold a wax?
I'm really in need of some help, I'm super grateful of any and all input!
