So I'm looking for another pair of skis to compliment my bacons (I will be keeping them). Right now I'm on 178 bacons and i love them to death until things get all chundery and tracked out. I'm about 5'8 ish and about 145 lbs I ski the interior of B.C. I've narrowed down my options for a more directional ski that isn't afraid to be pointed down the fall line such as on3p billy goats or 4frnt hojis. If anyone has good experiences with these 2 skis or other charging sort of skis I would love to hear it also sizing info would be helpful.
I ride my hojis everyday here at jackson hole and I love them for everything. The full rocker makes them super playful in tight spots and bumps, yet the 30 meter matching turn radius the 4frnt does works wonders for charging down the fall line and not getting outta control. Obv on super icy shit they arent the best, but if youre a confident and competent skier you will be good to go. Im 6'2" and 175lbs with gear and sometimes wish I had the 195cm versions when im flying through chunder and cut up snow, or when its a super deep day. That said, this ski likes to be driven on the tips and go fast in all conditions. Ive bought and sold a few other skis since owning these because nothing has the same feel of playfulness and still being able to be pushed super hard. I do need to get me the HOJIs big brother, some 196 renegades!
I have a buddy that is about 6 foot and he rides the 179cm HOJIs and loves them. There is no way I could do that, I already feel the 187s to be a bit short sometimes. But Id rather have too much ski than not enough. The HOJIs are a lot stiffer than the bacons so at your light weight Id bet the 179s would be perfect.
