Good outcomes of bullying

before you lower my karma and shit all over this thread, what if bullying actually has had a positive affect on a few people? If bill gates wasn't bullied as a young child maybe he wouldn't have followed the same life path, what if some bullying victims actually benefit from their scenario and focus on other things that they later pursue in life and succeed in. I know this idea sounds stupid and bullying is a horrible thing and ruins childhoods but this idea might have a bit of truth in it. thoughts?

I mean.. as long as it isn't over the top it can be ok. But people commit suicide over bullying so it's kind of a sketched topic..

This idea isn't stupid at all. It can be a long-term benefit, or it can make people kill themselves. I'll be honest...I was bullied almost everyday from 6th grade until my Freshman year of high school. It was brutal. I'm a smart guy so I didn't hit anybody or get myself into any trouble. Now I think about what those kids said and it pisses me off. I'm inspired to do better than those motherfuckers. I'm not saying that more people should get bullied, but it is pretty damn motivating.

I don't know if id say bullying per-say, but I do know my older brother by 10 years made my life fucking hell from probably 6-12 years old and i can honestly say I'm grateful for it. We would argue, fist fight, wrestle, call each other out for anything and everything. But now that I'm a little older i can stand my fucking ground against anyone but i also know when I'm not winning a fight. i can contribute a lot of who i am today to his ability to pick me the fuck apart and I'm pretty content with it.

Bullys need to be part of life, in moderation. People learn about life by being teased a bit no matter where they are. In an impossible world where everyone were nice, we would only have entitled dicks who's want could never be fulfilled. Teasing, that is not taken too far, motivates people to become better. If someone tells you daily that your hair looks like shit, you're gonna change it, not simply to make them happy but so that you feel like it won't be bad and make yourself feel better. Same goes with life stuff too. If someone is constantly telling you you'll never ammount to anything or get anywhere in life - this is an extreme example - but youll try to get somewhere right? IMO in obviously more sophisticated ways than this, really, bullying is connected too success.

if there is no bullying and kids grow up in a totally sheltered world then when they face a real problem they'll just freak out and have a fit.

This.

It makes you deal with people's shit and just shit in general. I was bullied a shit ton in high school. It sucked more than I'd like to get into. However, I definitely feel like it made me a much stronger person.

It all works out in the end too. I smile at my past bullies every time I drive through mcdonalds, or check out at the supermarket.

jah feel op. i was kind of mildly bullied (nothing bad) and it pushed me to progress in skiing and now my rail game is better than particular person who was mean to me.

In my opinion there are many better alternatives then bullying to toughen up a child.

I agree, kids need a taste of the real world but bullying is often a struggle that can last for years.
Many kids grow up with parents who are distant, abusive, or simply non existent in their kids lives. These kids are often the ones being bullied.

A knew a kid who took his life/ another who became drug dependent because After a while they believed what everyone said about them . With no supports at home or at school they dropped out.

This is more common than some people think. Life is filled with challenges bullying is more detrimental then helpful in my mind.

Bullying has changed a lot over the years. What use to be physical abuse has now turned to more of a mental thing and that has created a whole new set of problems. I can't say I was ever really bullied to any severe extent in school but I have dealt with other family matters that ((really)) took a toll on me over the years. People today seem so blind to the effects mental abuse has on us as humans and until people start having more empathy toward those who are being psychologically bullied I don't see anything changing.
Sorry for the rant.

As for if bullying has lead people to live more successful lives I would say that yes that would be the case for some. However Bill Gates is only one person and there are far more than just him who have been bullied in the childhood/teen years.
