ACL tears

So I realize an acl tear is one of the more common injuries and it's mainly due to what bindings a skier is riding. Fortunately I've never experienced this injury before and I feel I have come pretty close to it but I think the turntables on my Rossi fks 140s saved me honestly. So my question is if you've torn your acl what does it feel like and what bindings were u riding.

It's not usually due to the bindings, although riding incorrectly set bindings can seriously increase the risks of knee injuries. Unless you are 100% sure you know what you are doing leave it to a technician.

What does it feel like? It varies from person to person. For me I felt an audible pop in my knee and then a huge amount of instability when i tried to stand up and put weight on it. Wasn't nearly as painful as i would have imagined, although it depends on how clean the tear is,your pain threshold etc.

Tore my ACL November... landed funny doing a 270 and heard a tiny pop and felt my knee pop out... pulled up my snow pants as quick as I could expecting my knee to be dislocated and parts of my leg popping out, looked as normal as could be. Then I went to take a break from lapping seeing my knee was still in pain and on my way over to the lodge my knee buckled and I dropped and that is when I knew something was screwed up

I was using a Salomon Warden binding that is compatible with a Scarpa Thrill (tech touring boot), really new technology and does not release as predictably as a FKS

i have always used the turntable binding.
overshot a jump and felt slight pain/ tearing of my knee followed by a surge of heat throughout my entire body.... like my blood boiled. than the knee locked up, i skied down from a51 and rested for a couple weeks. no surgery, just rebuilt strength over several years. drs believe it to be an mcl tear, i have full strength but cant do certain things or movements. i have an mri referral, but too scared to go....
stretch, and drink lots of water. warm up with some type of hiking everyday you ski, even if its a rail. be careful on hangover days, your muscles will be tight.

There is no proven binding that is more likely to prevent ACL injuries.

The rossi/ look turn table still don't release laterally. 'Knee bindings' claims, but they don't either. By the time they release the damage is already done.

This.

FKS/Pivots turnable heel piece doesn't provide any more degrees of release than any other binding. It only turns because that is the way the binding was designed to work, not for extra safety. Rossignol and Look have never actually said that FKS/Pivots provide any more safety than other bindings.

The best binding is one that is suitable for you and is properly adjusted.
