Pass pulled. Headed back 1 yr later

it was really stupid of me - but it was a strange day on the hill. It was spring time, and like a wild thunderstorm appeared so they shut down the lifts quite abruptly. I was at the park utilizing the park lift or whatever, and they shut down without much warning. The only "open" trail with coverage was, like, above(?) us, so I would have had to click out and walk back up hill or something. i was, eh, pretty tired and sweaty so I skied down a closed run (which was pretty fun on my rock skis) and I was observed by patrol. It was the end of the day so not a huge loss, but taking that course might be a hinderance. Basically, follow the rules and you will be fine...have a blast though, its so fun!

galaxiaLast year I got my pass pulled at Keystone. They wrote me a ticket to do a class or something. Im from Wisconsin, and was flying out the next day, so I didnt do it. Fast forward one year, and I'm headed back to Summit. If I try to use my CC for lift tix, is it gonna pop up? Or is that something that they dont really keep track of? Any advice is very much appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah they make you pay $$$ and then you have to go to the class and until you do, your pass is voided.

They will not stop you from buying a day ticket. You could buy a day ticket the same day your pass got pulled and go skiing again.

Rules are rules, they apply to everyone in the major resorts. Out of control skiing is against the rules, that includes high speed.

Maybe a Mt. Newschoolers idea might get tossed around

it really does depend you have some yellow jackets there on a fucking power trip. I've been yelled at multiple times without anybody else on the trail they just claimed I was going too fast for my own safety. I never have but some of my friends ran into some real problems with them.

i get my passes comp'd because my "aunt in law(?)" works for some shuttle company and gets free tix. I feel like thye always ask my name or for my id or soemthing. Last year, i did use my brothers name and just said I forgot my ID - but I would prefer just to settle the matter outright. I suppose i will just call and go from there. Thanks for the help tho!

I worked at the ticket office in Breck last year (all run the same) and they take your personal info for even day tickets now - which is super lame. Something will definitely show up on your "profile", but it might not count since it was last year. Good luck and hopefully you deal with someone chill!

No, there is no monetary fine. I called it a speeding ticket based on the title of that other thread. The people (yellow jackets) who hand out the warnings are all over the mountain (not only at the base).

I was skiing down the hill at a decent speed when I had to slow down to maneuver through a yellow slow sign barricade in front of a lift maze, while slowing down I skied past a yellow jacket, who didn't say anything. About a minute later the yellow jacket with two of his friends pull me out of the lift line. They told me I was skiing too fast in a slow zone, I then asked how I was supposed to know (it's a slow zone), and they told me I should know where the slow zones are on a mountain. I then showed them the route which I came down, where the only slow signs are the aforementioned immediately in front of the lift maze. They reiterated the slow zone comment, and most likely realizing that their point was losing its weight brought up that I cut off two skiers, which is true. I didn't want to get in the discussion that they were moving no faster than 3 mph in a classic pizza however. Then they took my pass number and gave me the stupid yellow piece of paper.

My thoughts:

1. Yellow jacket could have asked me to slow down, like they usually do.

2. Dude invited two of his colleagues and waited until I was in the lift maze to make an example out of me, as it was a pretty busy day. There is no reason he couldn't stop me outside the lift maze.

3. The slow zone argument alone is pretty lame, especially when the area is poorly/not marked, if you want to get technical, it's not in the Skiers Responsibility Code. We both agreed I wasn't going very fast, just the fact that it was in a slow zone was a problem.

4. I don't really care that much because he's just doing his job and this warning doesn't really affect anything. I'm not trying to blow it out of proportion, just giving the people who asked for the story details.

5. If I get another warning, I have my pass suspended for two weeks and I have to go to a class. So I will be on my "best behavior" to avoid any conflict, but seeing as how I got a warning as easily as this one, I will avoid giving them my pass at all costs.
