Mt. Hood End of May

I'm in the process of planning a trip out to Mt. Hood around May 16-25. Just curious as to how the conditions are that time of year. I've heard it can be rainy, also how is the park that time of year? Planning on camping out and keeping the costs low. What's the best place to stay? I've heard about staying at the air strip.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Public park is money in may its a blast, Palmer is firm in the am then by 10:30 slushy goodness, possibility of rain but it only rained 2 days last summer that I can remember. If you're camping at the strip try to make friends with gypsys so others around watch out for your camp, best camp site is when you turn onto the gravel road about 30 yards from the very end of the airstrip on the right hand side is the money spot. Bugs aren't bad and if you keep it clean the Usfs wont bother you

We don't have any snow anywhere in Oregon. Skiing through May is asking for a lot

May vibes are always the best! With WCS session going on, bluebird days, and the parks are usually at its full potential there is nothing more fun skiing Timberlien in May. Make sure to be on the lookout for me (I ride ON3P FR).

To clarify...you ride just one ON3P FR because you only need one on your sit ski...

its super slushy and everyone goes home around 1 or 2 because it all just gets so slow you cant hit anything

They would just move all operations up to Palmer. Since you seem genuinely concerned, I will let you know that once juneuary passes we will get some solid precip.

Don't worry worst case scenario we will be riding Palmer all the way into the summer... Though I just checked the forecast and its predicted to snow more than a foot this week.

Mt. Hood has terrible snow right now, with a forecast warm and dry February. Ski patrol told me on the lift today that there is wonder as to whether summer skiing will happen.
