Armada jj vs solomon czar

Hey guys. I'm buying some skis to bring with me on a trip to jackson hole but looking for something that could also be used in the east cost. I'm buying used and have the option of 2009 185 armada jjs for $250 or 2011 solomon czars for $200, both mounted with decent binding. Looking for something that will be playful and floaty but also can handle groomers and some trees.

1. This should be in gear talk.
2. Those ideas are somewhat contradictory. On the EC, we rarely require a ski any wider than, say, this year's Alpha X or the Line Blend that was a little wide. The JJ and Czar are pretty similar in dimension, with the czar being slightly skinnier at the waist, tip, & tail. Naturally, that would be the better choice for the EC. That said, I can't speak to the flexibility or playfulness of either ski.

Would not recommend czar's. I had them in maine and the way its rockered it hooks up randomly and the turn radius is huge at 40+m's.
I would how ever look into JJ's. Soft playful flex with a short turning radius with a pivoty turn which is prime in those tight east coast trees. The down side on them would be edge hold and chatter on hard pack but lets be honest here you are only going to break the jj out on pow days or for trips out west if that is an option for you.
I would also check out the volkl gotama. Not as playful as the jj but the gotama has a pivoty turn with better edge hold than the jj and you don't mind the gotama on hard pack at all. That low gradual rocker allows it to pivot but still allows for edge hold.

dude both of those skis would suck on the east coast, and honestly the jj is less than ideal even on the west coast unless it has been dumping. some people use them as an everyday ski in the west, but something closer to 100 underfoot is better for an everyday ski. just demo skis while you are in jackson, i'm sure they have a good selection and you can save some money. both of those used skis you mentioned are probably pretty dead by now anyway (skis lose their poppiness after a while).

I loved my 07 JJ's so much I bought another pair for my touring set up. The 07's are still my daily go to for all conditions at the resort. Best ski ever made.

I've owned both. JJ's are more forgiving in general both in pow and on groomers, probably the better choice if you don't ride steeps or pow much. Loved the czars though, If Jackson is getting snow and you like to charge hard (cliffs, chutes, etc.) they're the boards you want underfoot. It feels like the JJ's wanna slide out if you land backseat. I also like the extra shovel on the czars for charging through crud.
