Problem with Full Tilt Drop Kicks

I bought full tilt drop kicks at a local shop a week ago. My right foot feels great but I am having problems with my left. When i flex forward it feels as though my foot goes crooked in the boot. I can feel that my heel is not snug and secure when i flex like it is in the right boot. I think that when i flex it pushes my heel to the left, causing the crooked feeling.

If i bring both my feet to the position that should be straight, my left ski is pointed left a few degrees, enough to make it noticeable. I am constantly trying to straighten my foot. It makes skiing very hard to stay balanced.

I have taken them back to get them adjusted and have explained this problem to seemingly everyone on their staff since I have been in there multiple times a day after trying a different adjustment.

The only thing they are really telling me now is to ski them for a couple weeks and see if them packing out makes a difference. There's no way i could stand skiing them like this for more than 2 or 3 runs at a time.

If anyone has any suggestions I will gladly take them... Very frustrated...

Lots of questions for you.

Did you get specifically fitted for these boots, or did you ask for them?

Did you get proper supportive footbeds made?

Did the liners get heat molded?

What ankle range of motion tests were done?

Did the cuffs get aligned to your legs?

They measured my foot and told me they should fit. I live in the midwest so its really not a real bootfitter. There's a guy that does modifications but he doesn't seem to know very much as he hasn't tried anything besides changing the cuff alignment.

They said that footbeds don't really go in full tilts because there isn't one to take out to begin with and you won't have any room in the boot with footbeds.

Got them heat molded.



No tests. The "expert bootfitter" there hasn't really done any diagnostic work. He does fitting for the boots you buy there for free but he just doesn't really do much to try and figure it out.

He tried changing the canting different directions but nothing really changed.

I've measured my forefoot and its 103 mm when i am stepping down on my foot. The boots width is 99mm. But I am very skinny and my feet and ankles and calf are very skinny

I fucking hate that Full Tilt tries to perpetuate that bullshit about not needing insoles.

It's a great disservice to the industry.

As Session alluded to, footbeds can definitely go into Full Tilts and they should. They will position your foot properly in the shell and at least hold your foot in the right place. Without them, your foot will sit in the wrong position and could lead to the pain you descrbed.

BUT, they do involve a competent boot-fitter to make them. And it sounds like you will need stretch work on the lateral portion of the boot, but that's only a guess on my part. This again requires a knowledgeable boot-fitter with the right tools in order to properly complete.

Totally random question, but have you ever broken a major bone in that leg/foot/ankle?

And as above, footbeds footbeds footbeds. I'd also try to find somewhere a little more competent to have a look at them.

No I've never broken any bones. They let me swap the full tilts for a nice pair of Langes. Was having the same heel slipping problem until we put my footbeds in and that helped a lot with locking in my heel in the left boot.
