HD vs non-HD filming

when watching edits, what do you gravitate more towards? the crisp, clear, ultra high def or the less crisp but more throwback old school footage?

Why the heck would anyone want to watch something not in HD when its so easy to film in ultra high def now a-days?

I would much rather watch the old school edits in HD swell, nobody likes blurry footage bro

A nice mix of both in an edit balances well and makes the edit more dynamic than 100% standard or fish Ultra HD shots, imo.
Not to mention it's a pain to convert/capture some older tape formats and that work goes overlooked sometimes.

you know what i used to love? when the top movies were all shot in 16mm (which is gorgeous period) but every now and then a digital shot would be thrown in, and back then the digi stuff didnt look anything like film so it'd be quite the stark difference

you'd be enjoying the great smooth aesthetic of 16mm then suddenly a gritty digi shot would be throw in and while contrasty and bright, it'd feel very real and in your face

i prefer HD for filming skiing but i love some classic SD vx1000 footy for skateboarding
