So this is my first year skiing and freeskiing. Everything is going well, but I didn't buy poles and I was just wondering how do skiers do grabs with mitts on while holding poles? I just ordered the armada B-dog mitt and now I am thinking about buying some poles, for the "style," but would it be difficult to do grabs with mitts and poles?
unless youre 5' 9" or under, id suggest riding with poles for sure. And once you get the hang of it, i dont think the mitten pole combo will be a factor at all
i've found that when starting off in park it's easier at first without poles because i have more movement and don't have to worry about hitting someone but i think it's all personal preference really
I wear mittens (actually b-dog ones in fact, they're super nice btw), I've never really noticed a huge difference between poles vs no poles for grabs. Obviously no poles there's nothing to get in the way, but with poles your just figure out where to put them while you're grabbing.
mitts vs. gloves while grabbing is not a factor but poles vs. no poles is incredibly different. I never get my grab quite as securely while using poles. If you are trying out new grabs I'd recommend no poles but once you get used to a certain grab poles wont really become a factor
For warmer days I like to use pipe gloves.. have a little more "stick" to them then my gloves even though there isn't a pipe within 400 miles of me haha.. Can't help ya with colder days though
