No one to ski with

What do you guys do when no one wants to go skiing? I want to since we just got fresh snow but I also don't want to ski alone.

Socialize. You're on the mountain to have fun and ski, there are lot's of other people also on the hill to have fun and ski.

Talk to people. If you're in the park talk to people on the drop in, hike with people, talk to people on the lift etc.

IT's pretty easy to make friends with people on the hill.

Oh you ride spirit. There's a ton of NSers that ride spirit, hit some guys up on here and get a group. Or drive to lutsen. I could ski lutsen all day by myself.

for the last couple of years i have been almost exclusively skiing by myself, feels a tad weird the first few times, but now i prefer it. only downside is cant, or well shouldn't, do empty tight gladded runs by yourself

What is a glade? Everyone always says that on here but ive never heard it used in oregon? Midwest/east talk?

Talk to people shredding in the park. Ask for advice, compliment their tricks if they're ripping, start up friendly conversation. You both have something in common - you love to rip, so it's easy to find something to talk about.

just use the day as a day of branching out and meeting new people or a personal day to push yourself to whatever degree you want. some of the most fun days have been alone because i push myself to try new stuff and also meet new people to ski with and learn from.

They're usually black diamonds, sometimes double blacks. I can ski them.

and go by yourself, meet new people....going by yourself is a blessing, you can work the singles line all day and ride up with what ever stranger you want.

Glade is the name of one of our most historic downhill trails here in Oregon. It runs from Timberline to Govy. Before the lifts people drove up, or briefly used the tram when it operated, and then skied the glade trail down to Govy. The Glade trail is still used today and we still use the word Glade at Mt Hood.

Im from portland. Grew up racing for th MBSEF at bachelor. Raced in the metro league in portland during high school. Ski bowl is my home mountain aside from bachelor.

I have never heard glade.

Guys, I took your advice and went skiing by myself. It was lonely at first but became very relaxing to just butter around and zip around.

The first few runs can blow, but you get used to it! Glad it worked out for ya. I've been skiing alone for years and honestly find it to be pretty great when I'm stressed or need to think.

Goes on your toilet and helps neutralize hideous odor when you have had bad Mexican. All Mexican food in Oregon is bad BTW.

best days I've ever had on snow were when I was riding alone. throw the iPod on shuffle, hike your favourite lines without having to convince your friends its worth it, no stopping and waiting, eat whenever the fuck you want, ride first chair last call, and you can talk yourself into making some pretty seemingly terrible decisions that you'll learn to love
