haha i always get sooo amped up when a snowstorm is coming my way,im literally glued to the weather channel and my local weather blog.. And when all the news casters say " Its supposed to be a pretty "BAD" storm" It sounds always like a wonderful storm to me! Too bad I live in michigan..

The wind is so crazy I doubt many lifts will be running tomorrow anyways, I'm headed to Stratton from southern CT on Wednesday, going to wake up at like 4am to get first tracks.

The east actually has just as long seasons if not a bit longer than the majority of the west which will be april 19th. Out east is very grassy compared to out west which means the east can run off of a 12 inch base. You need waaaaayyyyyyy more snow than that to ski out west. I'm going to be skiing sunday river in may, sugarloaf in may, and hopefully superstar at killington in june. Mandatory day at Tuckerman Ravine will be had as well.

Sunday River. Lift ops pushes wind holds way harder than the loaf dose. I have ran the chondola through some holy fuck shit wind. Ran it at 2.5m/s at 70mph.

I'm going to ski my tits right the fuck off. Magic is in a fatty snow band, should be cold enough for blower, has a killer base atm and it's got the terrain to absolutely crush this shit.

Your highest lift runs to the halfway point of Sugarloaf. We can run all the lifts below that point, no problem. It's our additional vertical that usually has issues, but also way more reward :)

We are talking winds way above your average windy storm here though. I'm no mountain ops manager but I can't see them running in 20mph winds with 40mph gusts. Unless the mountain is sheltered from the brunt of it I guess.

You can run in gusts of 100mph with an excellent on point not stoned operator with low sustained winds. You will have a lot of stops but you can operate. Jordan (a peak visible to mt.washington home of 200+mph winds) is that lift that dose that random gust bullshit. From where the wind is coming on the lift is important too. If its a wind that is blowing sideways its a real bastard to time the guide wheel into the trumpet straight in.

Living out west is great, just not when we keep getting the worst snow years on record. And it seems like yall get massive "historic" storms every year.
