Urban Lighting

Okay so we are looking to do urban and have lights and a generator already but generators are loud at night so is there any other way to power these lights?

Not unless you can poach electricity from an outdoor outlet. Get a long extension cord so you can try and put the generator somewhere where the noise is muffled, we used to do that just to avoid generator noise in our shots.

I've always had the idea of a car battery with a power inverter. then you just charge the battery after use.

It won't last long. Proper lighting for filming sucks a lot of juice. Plus you would need an inverter that costs about as much as a generator to run lights, or lights wired for DC.
