Sorry to hear about your dad's job loss but Bush was not the reason behind that. Nor did Bush hike your tuition rates. Tuition rates have been climbing consistently for years and years now. Bush hasn't done anything to jack them up.

As far as the economy goes, well 1 million jobs were lost in the one month following 9/11 and many more there after. Believe it or not Bush's tax cuts have spurred the economy. Job growth has been steady since over the last two years as well as market growth. Since October of '02 we have seen a market gain of 3600 points and consistent job growth. 9/11 was not only an attack on our civilians but it was an attack on our economy as well (look at the targets picked). Blame the corporation for poor fiscal planning as opposed to blaming Bush.

And I hope your relatives return from Iraq safe and sound.

i dont consider myself conservative or liberal, but I'm not a moron and can see the so many major mistakes that have been made and can see how bush is totally incompetent to rule this country, but since a slightly larger portion of the country is very religious, anti abortion, and anti gay marrige we now have bush for a president. Its great that so many people only thought about these stupid less important issues when voting instead of looking at the bigger picture

yeah im a liberal. I fully can admit that i live in oregon, love the enviroment, respect EVERYONE no matter the race, gender, or sexual orientation. I believe that the richest people in the country should pay their fair share of taxes, agree with the proven fact that reganomics/trickle down economics/tax cuts to the rich doesnt work. And to everyone else I never claimed I was punk, nor did I say I was in a punk band. I referenced a website that is called ConservativePunk.com I linked it earlier but apparently to many of you are a little to slow to figure out that you are supposed to click on the blue letters (its called a link).

As far as the homophobe thing goes, that I am not. But you could point the finger at both sides considering two liberally favored states also voted against gay marriage (11 states total), and in every state that gay marriage was voted on it was denied but a significantly large margin (doesn't make it right but apparently that is what the majority wanted). And conservatives are not a discriminating party like many of you seem to want to believe. We are just a party that does not believe in handouts (the majority of the time). We believe that everyone deserves what they work for and that our earned money shouldn't be buying food stamps or paying rent for crack addicts and criminals. We support vouchers for education because we believe it offers the opportunity for minorities to leave the public school systems that continue to fail to provide a proper education year after year. That's just a slim portion of what we stand for.

you conservatives rave about how great the US is and how compassionate you all are.. When it comes to compassion and greatness, you fall short. Here's why: Bush gave an 87 BILLION dollar tax cut to the top 1 percent of Americans. Those 87 billion could have been used for many things such as, education, the poor (who conservatives seem to really dislike because OH MY they dont vote for them.. I wonder why) So shut up about how the richest pay their fair share, Bush is giving them nice large tax cuts hoping that they might spend it and it will trickle down to the lesser blessed individuals. The economy is heading to shit, the middle class is becoming smaller, the richest people are controlling more and more of the country and the market, and the poor are definately getting poorer. Also, all the jobs that the conservatives are raving about are barely covering the incoming workers into the market. How bout instead of supporting rich CEO's who outsource their jobs to countries where they pay 75 cents an hour for labor, how bout we stop letting the richies fuck us and stand up for ourselves. but i mean you're conservative so you're probably rich anyway.

most of you are too young too understand the essentialist view that bush uses to govern the world, the world has been moving towards a shapeless postmodernistic view for far too long. You dont realize that making things right and wrong is nessecary once in a while, even if only in an existenialist (you dont actually believe it

ill be honest, i got tired of reading everything since my last post so i just gave up and i havent read anything on this second page, but im guessing its still relevant to the topic at hand.

graves, i have every reason to classify you as a homophobic isolationist. First of all it is a strong republican/conservative belief that gay people should not have the right to marry. and the fact that bush is making a constitutional amendment trying to band gay marriage makes him the first president to try to add prejudice in the constitution. Gay people are humans, they deserve the right to marry eachother if they want to. its as simple as that. The belief that they shouldnt be able to get married is strictly a religious belief, and i dont know if you heard of this term but theres a little something called 'the separation of church and state'

secondly, conservatives/republicans/assholes are isolationsists. why? because they dont give a fuck what the rest of the world has to say. they're stubborn bastards and refuse to listen to the majority (a very undemocratic practice). A perfect example of this is the War in Iraq. Completely, random and uncalled for, and when bush decided to go to war, he was condemned by almost all leaders of the world. Granted he did form the 'Coalition of the Willing'. Which i would say is comparable to the allied powers in WWII. I mean, Costa Rica, and the Netherlands are absolute powerhouses. and oh, i forgot Poland!

and thirdly i dont recall giving punk a strict definition at all, so i dont know what all of these accusations are about. I said punks are liberal, thats all i said. And i dont remember who said it, but some one said that they had to be open minded about the government, and id definetly add that to the guidelines. And you've used the same fuckin line about the ramones and the misfits at least 15 times by now, and that seems to be the only argument you have going for you. So congradulations, all that arguing and you have been able to list 3 guys in punk bands that were republican, im really proud of you.

And last of all, punk is liberal. All this shit you say about defining punk is just plain dumb. With your definition of punk having no definition, cottage cheese could be punk or even George Bush could be punk. That really doesnt make any sense to me, nor should it make any sense to any one eles. Punk has been liberal since its birth, and thats what it is. And yes maybe some of the ramones were republican, but the other 99.99999% of punk bands including the FIRST punk band: The Sex Pistols, were all liberal. So, as i said before come up with another name for your political beliefs, because its not punk. Im thinking that you can call you're beliefs something like 'CONSERVATIVE', or maybe 'REPUBLICAN' or possibly even 'RIGHT-WING DOUCHE BAG' but not punk. So graves, you are dismiised.

Actually, isolationism is staying out of the business of foreign nations. So in no way can you say the current administration is isolationist. we havent been isolationist since the beginning of world war 2.

Oh my, I was just reading through one of the links that Graves has posted in his profile. The author, matt22 obviously has a distorted grasp on logic and reality judging by his extremely odd opinions on topics ranging from gay marriage to the vietnam war. Call me crazy, but I would bet money that Graves has similar views. He also has a war fetish, but that's a different subject altogether.

After just merely skimming this post I'm starting to think that. Here's the thing about punk. It really doesn't exist the way it once did because the world doesn't work like that anymore. Now, that doesn't mean we can't still think for ourselves, but none of the arguments anyone has presented on either side for or against bush involved much thinking for themselves.

I find it hard to believe that a rational person could look at the atrocities committed under bush and find him a good person to vote for. Oh well, you guys are letting the rest of the world finally catch up or get ahead of you.

that being said. Wow are there ever a lot of stupid people that post about politics here 'your a cock muncher, blah blah blah' grow up kids. If you don't know enough to post something intelligent and have to resort to that don't post please. Frankly it's starting to scare me more and more that so many people in the ski industry have such crappy attitudes and can act like such complete morons. Reguardless of which side you are on you can still present good ideas and quit being idiots that flame one another. You make me sad that the industry I love is filled with people like you. Grow up.

There are some bands/people in the punk scene who may be more liberatarian, but that is not the same as conservative, and even the libratarians, i would say are in the minority in the punk scene.
