Why is MLG in the winter XGames?

I saw a while back that major league gaming (MLG) was going to be in the XGames and I thought it was a pretty funny joke. Then I saw the schedule for the Aspen games today and saw that there's going to be a Counter Strike tournament. I personally think it's funny as hell but I don't understand how it snuck in there with slopestyle skiing/snowboarding, big air, snowmobile racing and all that other crazy shit.

Because xgames blows massively and went to shit over a decade ago. It's no longer about the sports.

The core scene isn't worth shit. That's why they have horrific announcing, major league gaming, and get rid or and add sports whenever they feel it will help them make money.

When they got rid of bmx dirt that was really lame. But they'll add 15 different moto sports, best whip, gnarliest fender paint job, rc car rally, and whatever else.

Every year I hope a new contest comes out to take it on. Even if it never challenges x games financially just something else core, without the bullshit. Would love if something legit could come and pass xgames and snag their $.

There's great riding at xgames but that's on the athletes not the contest. The same people that build the course could be hired out for another contest.

Idk, I've been watching it since the first or second year. Just sucks watching i degrade into what it has.

Wouldn't be surprised if they gt rid of skiing to add in winter rally, snowmobile drag racing, hot dog eating contest, or whatever else they think will make more money.

They should just get rid of everything and make it a figure skating contest, that shit sells really well.

Tbh it is silly that it's included with an action sports competition. I am kind of happy for it though. But that's just because I'm a long time Counter-Strike fanboy. CSGO is a pretty great game, you guys should try it some time. I was on a CS team a little bit ago. Spent a lot of time on that damn game. Then I realized skiing is 100x better.

At summer x they played cod. I used to crush it at that game. Until last winter was still playing with some folks running the place in domination. That said I still hated it being at xgames. The fact that they got xgames gold medals was fucking laughable.
Xgames is mainstream, it's to cater to the kid that doesn't play sports, so have the gaming thing in there but don't make it a gold medal thing. Idk. Somebody throwing a triple cork over an 80 foot gap and somebody playing xbox aren't really the same to me.

That said thinking of going now that I'm in CO. Never been to an x. Almost went to summer in philly but couldn't pull it off.

No joke I would probably watch someone drift remote controlled cars. That'd be kinda sweet. I don't think it should be in the x games but it would be cool.

This is an insult to all the pro skiers risking their lives throwing down huge on 80 foot gaps and then there is some one playing xbox right side by side getting the same coverage and winning the same medals. I'm surprise more pros haven't voiced their opinion on this bull $hit

Ultimately its about money. Everything is about money when it comes to such a highly aired event. That being said...its extremely sad statement about how far the xgames have come from way back in the day. Not to mention there are no athletes in any sense who are gamers. Fat ass couch potatoes. Really goes to show you how sad this new generation of kids growing up really is

It still takes skill to play with some of the top players. With that being said it's a different set of skills. I don't think they should be placed side by side with athletes throwing potentially dangerous tricks over an 80 foot kicker though. I'm all for competitive gaming becoming popular as it gives people the chance to still become known and makes that process more accessible. However it should be in its own competition, not shared with a physical sports competition. That imply's equal sets of skills are used and that's just not true. Maybe xgames should branch into two divisions, xGames for physical sports and eGames for eSports.

TL;DR: Split xGames into xGames for physical sports and create eGames for eSports.

The video game people make enough already. All they have to do is buy the game and play it. These action sports guys like our pros depend on these events to make livings, all that the mlg events are doing is taking money from the people that deserve it. I am hoping that XGames will completely blow up (in a bad way) after this year and maybe eventually have to start over and be like old times.

and? because they make more money than skiers, that makes their job cooler? there are tons of people making tons of cash that do stupid as hell shit every day. horrible argument to make, I think.
