what are some careers that could allow me to ski a lot? ive been on track to be an underwater welder but that couldnt work out in my favor because many projects are in the gulf of mexico aka no skiing..anything else i could do with my life that would be decently entertaining and let me ski?
Bartender in the local ski town. Most shifts are after 4pm and would let you ski during the day. Plus if you're sociable and are relatively attractive you can make nice tips.
I'm currently trying to get into the Canadian Coast Guard navigation program (which is non-military, unlike the American counterpart). You work on a lay-day system, so for every day at sea you get a day off. You can work anywhere from 1 week on 1 week off, to 6 weeks on 6 weeks off. I'm hoping for something close to the latter, and getting stationed on the Pacific coast (although summer missions in the Arctic would be super cool too).
A lot of people are mentioning jobs, not careers. Bartending is not a career.
If you want a genuine job that slows down in the winter to allow you more time to ski, think construction, landscaping, etc. You can start your own company and once you're established you can earn a good living.
I'll also say- a real job, a career job, could afford you the time to go skiing. But it might not afford you the energy. After a 9-10 hour day in the office for me I don't think I'd have the mental capactiy to go skiing. Even some weekends it's hard to muster the energy.
