I still don't like how all of the scenarios they put them through had the other person either armed or blatantly ignoring the fact there was a gun pointed at them.
In my opinion shooting an unarmed person that's threatening an officer should still be seen as excessive force. It's a lot harder for an individual to kill an officer with their hands. Therefore why should an officer be able to potentially kill an individual with a gun if they feel threatened by an unarmed person? Especially when they are taught non-lethal take down techniques for use on unarmed individuals? Going further, many of these cases involving people being shot to death by an officer are typically from them aiming at a vital area, many officers aren't aiming for a disabling shot when being threatened.

Youre a fucking moron. They aim for center of mass because that is the biggest target. If you are in a situation where you have to shoot at someone you make sure you hit them, not empty an entire clip trying to hit the guys big toe

in a situation where there are two people ignoring an officer, and who are demonstrating aggression against eachother? tasers are single shot reload. what if one or both of them had a gun or weapon, and once the first was disarmed, the second approached the officer with aggressive, violent intent? those few seconds between taser firings could mean life or death.

To clarify things some more and to keep beating the dead horse. I have family members involved with law enforcement, and many family friends who are or have been cops at some point. I've also looked into attending several academies but it's simply nor feasible for me at this time.

-Police DO NOT AND WILL NOT shoot like they do in the movies. They shoot for center mass as shooting for arms/limbs is unreliable and handguns are not as accurate as movies portray them to be. Seriously, go shooting and you'll understand what I mean.

-Tasers are not always effective, and many departments do not issue them to all officers as there were too many lawsuits and problems that arose with them being deployed. They also won't always penetrate clothing and have no effect against those on certain stimulants and drugs.

-Use of force is a very complex issue. A female or male officer who is smaller say 100-150lbs might have to go lethal on a large suspect who becomes extremely aggressive and physical before there is backup. At the end of the day, they want to go home in one piece, not to the hospital or morgue.

-Just because someone is unarmed does not mean they cannot kill. MMA, UFC and just general street fighting knowledge has the ability to maim. The kind of person who is going to fight a cop is someone who is not going to fight fair.
