Resort Disappointments/dickishness

So today I woke up late and couldn't leave to go skiing until around 12. It was a perfect blue bird day and I was stoked to shred. But when I got up to the resort, after a half hour, they were just telling people to turn around because there wasn't any parking left. So I went home and drove and hour for nothing, not to mention I didn't get to go skiing.

Anything similar happen to nsers?

Not enough parking? Ha if I ever owned a resort and was put in that situation id be out there was a dozer making more room!




I drove 2 hours down to a Gophers game once and couldn't find any place to park so I left.

I think you were referring to Brighton... I witnessed it but I got first chair in the morning and had to leave by noon. If you were in the parking lot you would have seen the craziness and disorganized mess of parking area you would have seen why they were turning people away. I hope they put a sign on the bottom of the canyon road but the lift lines got to about 20 minuites anyway (in the singles line, mind you)

Here's what you'll find if Jackson Hole happens to get 2 feet of snow overnight on a sat or sunday of a busy weekend

* Get to the resort at 8:30. Already hundreds of people in line before you
* Wait in line until 10:30-11 while patrollers do Avi control
* Finally get up top, make one good run
* By your second run everything is tracked.

That being said, there was a time when I would be stoked to even get one run of good powder at JHole... I guess too much of a good thing makes you jaded.

this year lvssr started charging 74$ for 3 lifts and 4 runs, and 5$ for parking

wait, so how is the resort a dick? a resort's primary function is to turn the lifts safely and sell tickets/passes; not provide YOU with a parking space.

maybe if you weren't an absolute pussy, you would have put another 10 minutes into driving around the lot to "create a spot". Whenever they say the lot is full, tell them you're picking someone up and drive around to your heart's content. Especially in Utah, the lots aren't full, they're just full of idiots that cannot drive or park properly. It looks full but there are spots to be had.

yesterday the one of the chairlift broke down and the people had to be repelled down, today the credicard thing broke so the people had to pay in cash, then at the same time the atm machines weren't working either.

have an avy shovel in ur car at all times and just make a spot. I rolled into PCMR's horrendous lot Friday and made one out of a snowbank. 10/10, was a chyll experience.

today this super hot chick in all her saga gear and full tilts and stuff was pretty much having a photo shoot at the top of the park and then proceeded to jump off every rail-lip the whole way down. that was pretty disappointing in like a "come on really" sort of way

Every year my local hill has a weekend where hot dogs are only a dollar each. This year however they changed it so after you buy one hot dog at full price the second one is a dollar. It was quite the disappointment.

Its way more fun waiting in traffic up LCC on midweek pow day, when you think everyone cant take work or school off.

I know it's happened at Bridger before. They explained on their Facebook page that the USFS limits how much parking they're allowed to have so they really can't do jack shit about it except beg people to carpool.

Yea that would drive me crazy. One way or another I may end up around SLC one of these years. I'm sure I will regret ever complaining about "crowded" wyoming.

Jhole is in just a little area, right? easy to understand how/why it gets swamped by people. the single pow run comment is soo fucking true though. everyones had days where they skied all day and only got 5~ runs in, maybe.

Not having a chalet at my home mountain with over crowded weekends and slushy or icy snow usually makes for a pretty bad day but I usually have fun every time I go skiing regardless of that.

was at Waterville Sunday, high wind(but not enough to clear the fog), huge fog, precipitation of rain/hail/sleet/whatever, and they closed the lower mtn lift due to "icing issues"??? how is lower mtn lift iced(detached express quad) but not higher mtn lifts(old fixed double)?
