When I was leaving las vegas my brother bought his kids some giant candy bars and one was 2 giant 1/2 lb reeses. He didnt have a carry on so i put it in my backpack. While going through security they pulled me aside an patted me down and asked me a bunch of questions. Apparently on the xray machine my phone charger cord intertwined perfectly with the reeses and it looked exactly like a bomb with the two big circles and wiring.

Not that crazy but thats about the most exciting thing thats happened to me in an airport

My ears "popped" a couple times from a flight from Minneapolis to Texas. Luckily I had gum so it was all good

I blew a hole in both of my eardrums on a flight when I was 6. Had to get surgery twice. I can turn music up to 100% and it sounds like crap.

I had a really bad ear infection when I was a baby and got on the plane to Paris and my eardrum blew out. Deaf in one ear now because of it.

But I got interrogated a couple summers ago when my dad first moved to London and I hadn't been on a plane in a while. I'm absolutely terrified of planes and started flipping out in the security line so some TSA people pulled me out of line and brought me to a back room and it was all a very traumatizing experience. Now I won't fly unless I have a couple xannies in me.

I was on a flight to Frankfurt, Germany in 2008 with my parents for a 2 week HS graduation gift "trip". The flight was nonstop from San Francisco and we were in Business class, reclining chairs, full meals every 2-3hours, personal 8" screens on a swivel on the chair arm - it was sweet. I was watching a movie but fell asleep. I had the aisle to my left and there were 2 seats after that (window seats) and I had my mother and then my father to my right.

So when I fell asleep during the movie, I was out. Hit REM sleep within minutes - I was a procrastinator and packed at the last minute the night before and got maybe 3hours of sleep and then had a 2hr drive at 6am to the airport, I was fucking tired. I have my mom's eye patch thing on my face to help put me to sleep. I wake up and there's no one in the business class. I see through the curtain in front of me to 1st class that a stewardess is sleeping on her folding chair in the supply cabin in front of the cockpit. I'm way too tired to really care, so I turn to grab the arm on my chair to pop one side of my back and then again towards the aisle to do the other side and there's this kid sitting across the aisle one row back. No one next to him. He was maybe 5 judging by the fact he had most of his teeth and his legs couldnt reach the ground yet and I noticed he had his hand out with a gameboy color, a blue one. I could see from the back that he had Sonic The Hedgehog in the system and assumed he wanted me to play it for him. I smiled and said no thanks. He made this really loud "humph" sound like he was disappointed then he grabbed this piece of paper in front of him in the sleeve behind the chair in front of him and opened it on the table and gave me the thumbs up. I saw it was a picture of a soccerball and it had "2-1" at the top and an Italian flag. I turn back around and go back to sleep until I assume my parents will wake me up whenever they get back from wherever they and the other passengers went. I wake up to someone touching my left arm. I open my eyes and it was the stewardess who was sleeping the last time I woke up and had the interaction with the kid. She was moving the drink cart and my arm was in the way and apologized but asked me if I wanted anything. I asked for Ginger Ale, I love the taste. Then I hear my mom ask for a Diet Coke... "Where were you guys?" I said. My mom was surprised and it turns out they never went anywhere. I got in a small fight with her, half asleep still, trying to persuade her that she had in fact left with my dad. I turn back to grab my drink and I look back over the cart and I see an elderly couple filling the two seats where that kid was who love the Italian soccer team. I was so fucking confused. 4 hours later we land. It's almost noon in Germany or something due to the time change so I was glad I got SOME sleep. We get an Audi A4 wagon to rent, graba small bite and get on the road. The autobahn is a blast man. Later, near Nuremburg in Bovaria, about 4 hours later. We stop to grab a bite. It's in the evening and so we decide to do dinner and figure we wont eat again once we find a place to stay as close to the Austria border. We go into this cafe and it is packed. Packed. We realize the EuroCup is going on and its Italy vs. Switzerland. We get seated in this table in the middle of the room. There's about 2' left on the clock for the match and it's tied. I hear this weird music coming behind me in the booth and it sounded familiar. I turn and see a boy holding a gameboy. My heart drops. It was the music to Sonic. The room erupts as Italy scores a goal, making it 2-1 and ending the Swiss' run for a win. Through the crowd of people I look back over at the table and I see the kid had a new soccer drawing under his plate like it was some placemat - a big soccer goal and stick figures and another 2-1 in the corner of the sheet. He looked at me and smiled. His team won just like I noticed in my dream on the plane some 11 hours before but now we were over 300miles from the airport and here he was in the same cafe as me. But this time the gameboy was red.

one time i was trying to fly out of castlegar but my flight got cancelled because it was snowing too much so i went to whitewater and skied epic pow.

Wow that really sucks. I can't imagine what that would be like, can you still hear where sound is coming from? It seems like you would lose your depth perception, but with sound...

This past September, I was spoiled enough to attend iF3 for my twentieth birthday. I flew home on a Tuesday, super tired, and the majority of my blood was still booze. In the Montreal airport, I was getting ready to pass thru security, and enter customs to return to Montana. It was the usual backpack scan and such. I emptied my pack of my laptop, phone, ect. had three bins, and after I passed through I notice only two had followed me, and a man kept moving one bin back. That bin had my brand new Dakine Helipack in it. I was getting irritated by then, and alerted the scanner people that a man was trying to steal my backpack. The dude eventually get's to the front, the bag is scanned and he goes to take it with him. I yell at him, and he turned around, saying it was his. We got into an argument, I pulled my passport out of the front pocket and yelled about being an american or some shit, while he's yelling at me in French. Eventually I got it back, and security took the man away.
When I got to the gate, I was flagged to report to my terminals desk, where security had the man, and made him apologize.

TLDR; man tried to steal my backpack once, Canadian Security made him apologize for it at my gate.

The flight was Melbourne to LA via Sydney. The Melbourne to Sydney leg went without issue. Upon landing in Sydney, passengers were told the flight from Sydney to LA was being delayed. Three hours later, it was cancelled. The airline kindly told us that we would be allocated accommodation overnight and they would put us on another flight to LA in the morning... Sydney airport, of course, is one of the few airports in the world which closes at night. Before I could be allocated my accommodation, I had to collect my bags (including ALL of my skiing kit). Naturally, it took the airline 2 hours to find my bags (apparently they were hiding up the back of the plane). Be that as it may, I went to get my allocated accommodation. I was lucky enough to get a room in Newcastle (which is a 2.25 hour drive). As it happens, the Sydney Mardi Gras was on and all the hotel rooms in the city were completely booked... After waiting for another 2 hours for the transfer bus, I got chatting to several girls who were in the same boat as I. After a while, we decided to hire a car and drive ourselves to Newcastle. Another half hour passed while I sorted out the hire car. When I got back to the pre-arranged meeting point, the girls had decided they wanted to go out for dinner at Bondi and then just sleep in the car (in 26C weather). What a night... The next morning (after about 45 minutes of sleep) the airline put us all on a QANTAS flight to LA and we were on our way. Upon arrival in LA, I learned my flight to Aspen was delayed due to weather conditions. That flight ended up leaving 2 hours late and diverting to Grand Junction. When I finally arrived in Aspen, it hit me that the entire door to door journey had taken 50 hours.

Those guys had been at the shop I work at talking to us and one of our customers while they were waiting for fuel. Our customer and the pair flying the Stearman were both headed to the same airshow. Then lunch rolled around, I went inside to eat, our customer went out back to watch the traffic, and those guys went to depart.

Then it caught me off guard when the crash siren went off across the airport, I had only ever heard it during the daily test before. I scrambled and ran out back and just seen the Stearman in pieces. Our customer witnessed it all happen and kept telling us he thought the engine had fallen off. He was really doubting himself because it's such an absurd happening though. Sure enough he was right in the end.

After the pilots had been extracted from the airplane by EMS we had to clean up the runway. It was some of the gnarliest carnage I've ever seen. First of all the one pilot broke both ankles... Anyways his feet got really fucked up and EMS tore his socks off and just tossed them on the wing. There was like bits of flesh and blood covering them so nasty. The engine was way ahead of where the airframe was, and the trail of debris from where it impacted and then rolled to was huge. The airframe was pretty fucked up to, both wings had collapsed and the landing gear was poking up through the bottom of the wings. The front cockpit was really torn apart and this is where the pilot who broke both ankles was seated. The rear cockpit was intact but there was a big bloody mark on the top of the instrument panel from where the other pilot hit his head on impact.

After that I had to drop their possessions off in their ER room and it was tough seeing both of them just lying there all bandaged, bloodied, and broken up. Both of them were totally pumped up on adrenaline and painkillers though so they were in good spirits. I'd rather see them like that then on ice. If the airplane had flown for longer before the failure occurred, that would definitely have been the result. Hope that shit never happens again.

had violent and painful diarrhea like 15-20 times during a 5 hour layover at Taiwan airport. 14ish hour plane ride home was more of the same. Super embarrassing experience and now I hate flying and am skeptical of asian food
