First of all I don't know how to calculate how much aid is 'enough' for tsunami victims, of course any amount is great but surely 350 million dollars and high level American official talking to heads of state of the Asian countries and American ships and planes diverted to the crisis (which will cost a lot due to logistics issues) must greatly surpass this 'enough' amount

Bush is spending something like $158 billion to rebuild iraq. They spend three times as much in a week as they have donated to aid in SE Asia. Does that put it into perspective enough for you? I'm not sure on exact figures, but I would extimate that probably 100 americans were killed and maybe a thousand injured in the waves. Dont you think we can afford to be less stingy? we spent 2 billion rebuilding iraq, which got hit with some bombs and what not. indonesia got hit with a wave, destroyed EVERYTHING. 2 billion for a kind of decrepped country and 350 for a country that is almost gone.

Iraq isn't exactly in great shape either... but the key thing is, Iraq is Bush's mess to clean up. Indonesia isn't. While the whole world should, ideally, contribute what they can, it's not as if they're really obligated to give until it hurts.

^^ I agree J.D. bush has an obligation to Iraq, where he has no obligation the countries that got hit byt the tsunami. Yet he still gave money to them. If you think he wasn't giving enough, maybe we should have given nothing and see how things turn out then.

its ridiculous, your looking at the small picture, 350 million seems like a shit load of money, but look at the bigger picture, you know how fast you would spend that at war? you know if every fortune 500 company gave something like .01 percent of its annual revenue how much it would total? 350 million isnt that much, the death count is over 120 thousand people now.

Good one, if all canadians spent one dollar they would only send 50 dollars. I honestly can't reply to that because it wasn't thought out at all. Are you implying that there are only 50 canadians in the whole country? Who said any nation has to give money to the effort? America is doing so, but it is much easier to give up money that the country has a lot of than to give up money when a nation does not have much at all.

I was joking about Canadas population. If you havn't noticed america is in debt BIGTIME. It's not like we just have billions of dollars laying around right now to give out to needy people around the world. I'm sure we will send a lot more aid both financially and physically before it's all said and done. All you Canadians ever do is sit around and rag on America, find someone else to hate on honestly.
