Do you believe there is a God?

Do you believe in God? Do you believe there is one God, or many gods? Or no God at all.. Are we alone on earth?


If there is no God then everything is relative, which means morality is relative. If you don't believe in God then where do you gain your sense of right and wrong? From laws and rules created by the GOVERNMENT?


I want interesting discussion, but preferably no one getting mad and offended. I won't get offended if you won't.

I think it is unfortunate that issues such as the age of the earth often become the main arguing point between Christians and atheists/agnostics. The Gospel is not about proving carbon dating wrong, or proving science wrong. Its about the sinfulness of man and God's redemptive plan. Keep that in mind OP.

I know you have a really hard time reading. But we're talking about a creationist believing that evolution doesn't exist, and the earth is 12,000 years old because the Bible says so. Not if the earth is not 12,000 years old that means God isn't real. (just for the record he isn't real) Not only is he on able to defend his points, but he's wrong and that's not an opinion. the Bible is not literal we have proven many things in the Bible incorrect both scientifically and historically. yet op still believes, and blindly follows whatever is told to him while ignoring the facts, and being laughed at and finding nothing wrong with it. I have a huge problem with that if you want to let people be stupid then let them.

But how dare you tell me how to live my life, my atheism is my religion and I will not be silenced by you it's so offensive that you would tell me anything else just let me believe what I want to believe and then let me shove it down the throat of others like making a thread about it on newschoolers. Haha whaaa? I don't get why you get so worked up and feel like you have to defend your beliefs. I'm not trying to convert you... lol, I'm not trying to convert anyone. The purpose of this thread was simply to see what people had to say about God and if they believe in him..why? and if they don't believe in him..why?


But don't pretend that it's just me who believes all this. There are plenty of scientists with the magical "Ph.D" that are creationists. Doesn't mean they are any less smart.

By the way-macro evolution isn't a proven fact.. Even though they teach it in school as if it is. It's a theory.. it just happens to be a theory that the scientific community really likes-and that's why everyone believes it.

No I don't blindly because unlike you I actually understand the fundamentals of science so I actually understand what they are saying, and why what they're saying is actually going on. its called research, you do it at something called college, if you ever major in something called science, and you should try it sometime. gravity is also just a theory, should we not teach that in the schools either? fossils is just one of many examples and proof for evolution. Take a day and walk through museum, the more you talk the deeper a hole you dig.

you also never addressed my point of no written records or archaeological records of Jewish people being in Egypt or slaves building the pyramids. neither in the Jewish/hebrew or Egyptian records.

If God created the stars on the 4th day (thus presumably also creating orbital rotation), how did he know 4 days had elapsed if the concept of days had not existed until then?

A priest couldn't anwser any of those question because we've proven them, and they are not wrong. And a priest doesn't know any more about scince then milkman. dom_daqNobody can really answer this question for obvious reasons but I do have an opinion.

I believe that the idea of a "God" (or whatever you call him/ them) and a "heaven" that god only sends the good people to was a strategic (and I would argue helpful) lie started by humans to try to improve human behavior. The purpose of religion is to give people a reason to live good lives; to help others, be compassionate, better humanity, etc. Many people get caught up in the other-worldly bullshit that could maybe be true, but I think deep down everyone finds it a bit doubtful. Religion is really about teaching people how to live, not about teaching people what happens once you die.

My point is that some people need religion to live a good life, and props to them for having the motivation to follow the commandments or rules set by religion to better the life of the follower. But personally, I'd rather live a good life on my own terms; I can be a compassionate, helpful and genuine human being without a holy book or preacher telling me how to do it.

That's my 2 cents on religion, sorry for the rant (hopefully it makes sense).

It helps to have proper grammar, you probably spelt a solid 5 words wrong in a few sentences. And once again you're being a fuckin prick. No offense to you milk man haha just that priests usually have to go through a lot to become what they are, and it takes a lot of dedication to do. I never stated my beliefs so thats an assumption, correct but still an assumption. The problem with debating with people who base their ideas on having faith is that as soon as you prove them wrong, they jump back to the having faith argument. These same religious groups made it taboo to hate on Religion so that people feel guilty exploring other ideas against their faith. I would make it taboo too if my ideals had no actual proof. Gotta have faith, mannnnnnnnnnnnnn

im not very religious/ a strong christian but i go occasionally and i take theology in hgh school. I interprete as the way god created earth it has nothing to do with days or time just the way it was created. However, i also dont believe in the 7 day story i believe in evolution but about the creation of the universe or life as it is then i would believe in God.

It can be interpreted different ways, idk why you're struggling with this concept so much, most of the bible is not literal but is metaphors and figurative language. You can interpret it the way you want
