Do you believe there is a God?

Do you believe in God? Do you believe there is one God, or many gods? Or no God at all.. Are we alone on earth?


If there is no God then everything is relative, which means morality is relative. If you don't believe in God then where do you gain your sense of right and wrong? From laws and rules created by the GOVERNMENT?


I want interesting discussion, but preferably no one getting mad and offended. I won't get offended if you won't.

His response to this was that fossil fuels taking that long to form was basically a lie from god testing his faith and that they're really not that old.


If there was a catastrophic event that quickly covered tons of vegetation with mud, it wouldn't take nearly that long for fossil fuels to form.

Even if it sped the process up 1000x it would still take hundreds of thousands of years. Still significantly longer than 6000 years.

Here's the deal.

You are free to believe whatever you want, and I respect that right. To each their own. However, don't say that science supports those beliefs, because it doesn't. In this situation, you don't get to have your cake and eat it, too. You've been trying to argue for creationist science, but the only response that needs to be given is that "you can find evidence for anything if you set out looking for it." That's not science, and the fact that not only is there no consensus about it but that there is in fact large consensus against it only belittles your point.

inb4 frenchy tells me I'm butthurt: believe what you want, please. I don't care. But don't call it science.

It's also hard to listen to someone believe something that is so obviously wrong. Reading someone believe in a virgin giving birth, or that the earth is ridiculously young is like reading about someone who staunchly believes the sky is green. It's not, virgins cannot give birth and the earth is old as fuck. Scientifically proven.

It also has lots of cruel and brutally violent stories and morals too. If you use your own innate moral compass to ignore or reject all of those then why do you even need the nice bits of the bible? You're already one step ahead of the bible morally by rejecting all the shitty things God did.

You need to fucking educate yourself man and learn what is real and what is fiction. The Earth is ~4.6 billion years old (and so is the sun and the other planets in this solar system). Our universe is 13.8 billion years old. There are ~100 billion stars in our galaxy and there are more than 100 billion galaxies in the observable universe. Each star (100 billion * 100 billion = 10^22 total stars) it is estimated to have on average two planets orbiting them. It is absolutely beyond ridiculous to believe and think that the Earth is 12,000 years old. Some "god" or source energy may have created the universe 13.8 billion years ago, but he has had nothing to do with your measly existence other than set the laws of physics and chemistry that are conductive to your existence. I am a very spiritual person, but the fact that you have such a closed mind to the reality that awaits you tells me that you are not very far along your spiritual evolution process. I am just trying to help educate you and bring to your attention the place that your paradigm should reside.

I know plenty of people believe in god, even in America. They also somehow elected a human Cheez-it, so that doesn't say much.
