milk_manMost Christians still go by the Ten Commandments, but some argue that they don't "matter" anymore. But the core of the Christian belief is the life of Jesus, Christians want to be more like him. And if you were exactly like Jesus you would be following all 10 Commandments naturally, so it goes both ways I guess
What took place to make you not believe in God?
That's a good answer.
But as far as my beliefs go, there's no definite way of ruling out a higher power or any statement saying we aren't spiritually connected. This is what I do believe in; the fact that us humans are connected to all living things in ways we cannot begin to fathom.
What steers me from the church is the fact that it takes scripture for fact. Through reading epic tales and other forms of religion, the main purpose is always to teach a lesson and give guidelines on how to live a sin-free life. I respect The Bible for what it is, but look at it no differently than The Quran, The Torah, The Sutras, or Greek mythology. I find it very contradictory to look at one of these books as a tool used for teaching, and another as black and white fact.
It comes down to truths vs. Truths.
