Rusutsu side country park

saw this earlier today while surfin the net and i think this is awesome.

so what does NS think?
i for one would love to see some of the snowier north american mountains trying out this type of idea.

I wouldn't really call it one of a kind, seems pretty similar to Burtons "The Stash" parks. They probably get a shitload more snow though so I bet its probably a lot funner.

the stash parks are generally just terrain parks with wooden feature instead of metal. id say that the rusutsu one is less of a classic wooden park and more like manmade cliffs and other backcountry features like tree rides

It's definitely not like a park, just a collection of features that have been built in a cleared out area of trees. It's a great idea.

In reality, it's built low on the mountain in an area which doesn't get as much snow. The features are really high and have flat landings. Rusutsu has enough natural pillows, log rides and rocks all over the mountain, so the designated Sidecountry park really isn't needed. I checked it out once, but haven't been back. Good marketing by the resort though!
