dodgeThat's sick! I have a lot of trouble in synthesis, I'd say mainly because I don't even know what I want my synth to sound like in the first place. There's just so many aspects to production it's extremely easy to become overwhelmed.
I've been targeting EQ and the mix recently;

My hot tip would be rolling off the lows of anything that doesn't need them, ie leads. Let the drums and bass fill in the void in the frequency spectrum. Also roll off < 20Hz on everything - it's just unnecessary mud.
I relentlessly roll off the lows on everything, it's a pet peeve of mine not seeing the EQ like that. One of my problems could be that I'm mixing my tracks with $5 skullcandy earbuds... My studio headphones broke 3 years ago and I've never replaced them.
One thing I've learned with production is that you should never go into it with an idea of what you're going to make unless you know enough about production to replicate that sound- very few people can do that. Just go and let it flow, otherwise you will get pissed.
That song was nice and chill, very well mixed. Diggin it homie!
