PS3 - Yellow/red light of death

Anyone who has a PS3, have you ever had the yellow/red light of death? I was Playing FIFA and all the sudden my system just shuts off. Then it shows a quick yellow light and changes to a red blinking light. Right now I am blow drying the back of the PS3 because the internet told me it works. I just need like 10 seconds of juice so I can get FIFA out.

Has anyone else experienced the YLOD? Did you fix it?

You should still be able to get the game out even if it breaks. My ps3 broke last year because the hdd got completely wiped for some odd reason.


Just get a ps4 so we can play fifa 3gether.

Managed to get the game out. You can force eject if you flip the switch on while holding the eject button. Popped the game out, now I gotta try to see what I can get for all of my PS3 games and a broken PS3 from gamestop.

I got $120 for my broken ps3 from gamestop. It was probably because it was a different problem though.

Just looked online, theyll give me $50 for it in working condition. I may try to revive it for a short bit to trick them and sell it. If not I assume I can get like $30. Its only 40 GB.

Already gave up on revival, got FIFA out. The game is worth more than the console now. Selling my games and controllers, hopefully get some money make a dent in the price of a PS4.

Gamestop wont offer much. I took my YLOD PS3 apart to take out the game and its still sitting under my bed. I heard that you can make a sick laser pointer out of the blue ray laser.

If you didn't get the game out of it, flip the power switch on while holding the eject button, shit pops right out.

I had the YLOD happen to my ps3, and I did the blowdryer trick just like you have, it worked for me and I fixed my YLOD and allowed me to play for another 3 months before it happened again, and then Gamestop gave me 180$ for it because I did the blow dryer trick right before I went to trade it in and they thought it worked. Jokes on them lol.

if you have a soldering set and a hair drier there's a way I've seen to fix it in a couple hours. A buddy of mine pulled it off, granted he's got an electrical engineering degree, following a video and some instructions. Let me splunk around and see if I can find it.

Beware of Sony. Had a 9 month old Ps4 die suddenly and had to send it back in. They sent me a brand new Ps4, that died within 2 days. When I sent that one back in, they said it was infested with insects and therefore the warranty was void and they won't fix it. Being the smartass that I am, I marked the tape on the box I sent it back in. Quick check proves that they never even opened the box I sent them. Tried calling and when I pointed it out, the service center suddenly "lost connection"

Absolute garbage company.
